Where can I get a manual (download) and other basic questions

i) I downloaded this game, would love to download a manual, but can't for the life of me find one

ii) I have read about the basic differences between races, but don't really understand what they mean strategy-wise - does one favour turtling, while another favours zerging, for example?

iii) a small thought, but this game would be hugely improved for me - in terms of atmosphere, rather than gameplay - if there were small movies or whatever demonstrating a planet's inhabitants cowering in awe as my mighty battle fleets destroy them etc. Any plans for something like this?

iv) are there any random fun events that take place, without affecting gameplay execssively? (more aethetic than strategy altering)

1. Then you didn't buy/download it through Stardock? The manual.pdf is (I believe) right there in the game folder.

2. The manual explains the basic race difference as do countless threads on these forums.

3. No. This game is not about being "inside a movie" (so to speak). I'm betting such a thing will never happen.

4. No. Unless you count "discovering" an artifact on a planet of yours which gives you a certain bonus, or reaching "achievments". I'm guessing you're again looking for something like "cut-scenes" etc.

Yes, there is a PDF game manual installed with the game. It is poor... but it's there.

I'd love to see a real attempt at creating a useful manual, perhaps with the excellent sales Stardock can hire someone to do so! :)

I don't think learning a game by trial and error is fun and I think there would be much less clamor in the forums on a whole host of issues if the manual was more (much more) detailed about how the game is played.

Just look at the section in the manual for the map designer as a good example of how incomplete the instructions are. That or we'll have to hope for a player-base-generated guide.
