Plz Buff Siege Frigates (srsly)

Plz Buff Siege Frigates (srsly)

Who actually uses siege frigates?  I know the AI does raids of 10 of them, and it is scary.  But 3 hangar defenses with fighters can gut any serious Siege frigate raid.  They take 12 supply.  3 of them take nearly the supply of a Dreadnought.  A Dreadnought provides vastly more ship to ship firepower and comparable bombing power to 3 siege frigates, but the Dreadnought doesn't pop like a balloon when a fighter gets near it.  I don't understand all the siege frigate whining.  Counter them with fighters.

My suggested buff - keep the costs, health, and damage the same.  Bring down the supply to 8.  That way I might consider building a few and bringing them along instead of teching up and buying a dreadnought.  As it stands, I don't build siege frigates because they die too easily and take way too much supply.  You cannot mix in 2 or 3 without losing a real combat edge.  Not to mention if you only bring 3, they will be focus fired by a competent opponent.

How to kill siege frigates:
Hold Alt.
Left Click a fighter squad.
Hold shift.
Right click each siege frigate individually.
They will die before they kill your planet IF you bought 1 emergency fortification upgrade.

Solution: Play Vasari. Use dark armada for your fleet. Get the upgrade that gives you 15% more ships than the other side. Use only the Colonizing (Jarrasul) capital ship. At level 6, these ships gain an ability called Drain Planet. If you don't know about it, learn quickly. Drain planet gives you resources from the planet while damaging it. It takes only 30 seconds for drain planet to work from start-finish. With 3-4 drain planets going off at once, NO planet can survive. Also, IMHO, those capital ships are a league above all the others in this game. They also have 2 other abilities the Nano-diassembler and the gravity warhead. Nano-dissambler is an insanely powerful Damage-over-time ability that attacks hull directly, bypassing shields. (Meaning, unless the enemy can quickly drain your anti-matter, his cap ship is screwed) Did I mention gravity warhead? That's that lovely ability that slows ships (capitals, anyone?) AND prevents them from phase jumping while under it's effect.

Drain planet = win. If the enemy has emergency structures built that only means you get more resources. With such a lovely capital ship, why settle for anything less?

I think that the Siege frigates are fine the way they are. They might be a bit costy when it comes to fleet supply, but I think they're relatively cheap resource-wise, and definitely worth it. I usually have a group of 5-8 with a Marza (or other high planet bombing cap ship) come in and the planet's gone in a few minutes, my other fleet's already on its way to attack the next planet, and my colony ship usually chills with the sieges so it colonizes as soon as they're done. In fact, most of the time when my colony ship gets its 100 anti-matter to colonize the planet has just popped. I really don't see any need to change them.

As for fighters destroying them easier than bombers, I really haven't seen fighters kill much in terms of actual ships on their own, SF's or otherwise. They definitely clear the skies of other small units (i.e. bombers and other fighters). But usually bombers kill the big ships, fighters just make small dents.
