I found space ponies, and I didn't even notice... what did they do?

So... yea... I got the space ponies achivement, yay. From what I Read you just need to keep searching planets until you find it... about time too cause it took 13 wins to find it.

But I didn't even notice I found it when I did... what does it do? that is, does it give a planetary bonus like penal colony/roiders outpost/tundra farms/etc... does it even list it on the planet it was found on? cause I KNOW I did not have it two wins ago (I have a checklist that I update as I go along, and each combat I set at least one achivement as a goal to achive.) but I checked the saves and I can't see it listed on any of my worlds...

maybe it was from that one online game I played, I could have found it then and not noticed, and I don't have a save from that.

ok, but what would it do IN GAME when I find it?

Can I find it a second time now that I already got the achievement?

Basically, I wanna know if it gives a planetary boost like other finds do.

I've searched the forums a bit and played the game a bit more. I haven't found them yet. I assume it will happen eventually. I also don't get the joke. But I definitely enjoy the ambiguity of it all. And the banter, while I am not privy to the punch line, is still funny :)

I've played this game a lot and have never come across space ponies. I'm still very confused by all this. :/

basically when you explore a planet (looking for artifacts and local bonuses) you have a very small chance of finding space ponies. I heard they tend to be in pirate bases though, so try conquering and exploring those. Anyways, I have yet to receive an answer as to what kind of bonus it provides.
(for example, there is a crystal miner bonus that gives +50% crystal mining in that system... so something like that probably)

Not knowing what they do or don't do in game is part of the mystery of The Space Ponies!

A fourm thrad of over 250 post was removed from the site just prior to the game going retail and in it were all the secrets of the Space Ponies. That is one reason you can't find it here...

the mystery was awesome... and I had fun looking for it. What annoys me is that I found it and missed it without even noticing! I was anxiously waiting for the game where I find space ponies, only to find out that it happened without me even seeing them. Bit let down. So I wanna know what they did to get some closure.

I found Space Ponies in my very first SP game, maybe the 2nd or 3rd time I explored a planet. Haven't really been hanging out in the forums too so I hadn't heard of it before, though it was kind of obvious that was an inside joke/easter egg. (Also thought at the time: dude this explore planet upgrade sucks.)

I don't think I even finished that first game, so yeah, if there is something more to it than just finding the ponies, I'd like to hear about it. But it sounds like I saw everything there was to see here.

They don't do anything. You just find that the planet is inhabited with pink space ponies. Apparently, it was a Beta joke in which the Beta testers said they wanted space ponies and glass windows in the game or something like that, and they got their wish fulfilled much to the confusion of players who joined after the release.

Too bad all the Beta threads have been eliminated after the release.
