Game completely desyncing - known issue?

Game ruiner ahoy!

Is it a known issue to have the game completely desync in the middle?

During an online 3-man FFA, somehow our game desynced.  Nothing technically looked out of the ordinary on anybody's end, but the game started developing differently to different people.  For example, on my end it looked like I had wiped out one of the host's planets and all his ships, but to him it looked like he still owned the planet and had destroyed all of MY ships.  Each of us thought we still owned the planet, although we were both able to change the name and the other could see the change.  It looked to me like his ships had been wiped out and ships were occasionally coming in one by one (presumably following a rally point) and getting killed by my ships.  We were basically playing different games with no input from the other.

However, we could still chat with no issues.  The third guy in the game appeared to be desynced from both of us as well, since we each tried attacking his planet and he couldn't see either attack.  It looked like everybody's client still thought things were running smoothly, just with no more issued orders from the other players.

We tried saving the game, exiting and then loading it back up to see if that fixed it, but it didn't change a thing.

Obviously this is a game-crippling bug.  Has this happened to anyone else or are we the first?

Yes, someone else has also reported this. Please zip up the saves and replays from as many players as you can and send them to [email protected] with a description of the issue, and the devs will investigate it.

Was there a solution posted to this? My friend and I have encountered this three times and had already sent in our game files a few weeks ago. We haven't heard anything since. Disappointing in terms of being kept in the loop and aggravating after playing for several hours as it's like we're not playing together at all.

Happened to a friend and myself too while we were in the game. This also resulted in a lot of memory dumps which we normally never have any problems with. As far as I can tell though, it has only happened once to us. Prior to when it happened, one of us moved the save files around after having to reinstall the game, so maybe that caused it?

Very annoying bug though as it was a fun game we had going when we encountered it.

We know it exists. We are trying to make it happen so we can fix it but it's unfortunately very rare.

I would say fortunately very rare :P Anyways, it seems to happen every time my friend and I play together. Perhaps we should send in more save games?
