Logistics Slots

newbie question

Ok, dumb newbie questions. I just started playing this yesterday and i'm still trying to figure it out.

1. It won't let me build more ships because I dont have logistcs slots. I read somewhere you buy these. How do you buy a logistics slot?

2. Found a a random asteriod should I be able to build a mine on it?

I'm a noob too so I'll try to help.

1. You need to go to Research and choose the Fleet Logistics tab on the left and work your way across the Global Fleet Supply ranks at the bottom.

2. You need to colonize it first, then you can mine what's there.
