Planets become sinkholes...

Getting frustrated...

I've seen this error reported a couple times in other threads, but nobody has provided feedback on the problem yet. Which is kind of pissing me off, but whatever.

The issue I'm having is that whenever I play a game, there is a planet that becomes a "sinkhole" for all units in the game. Basically, whenever the player's units or AI units jump to the planet, they become stuck in the middle of the planet and are unable to move. Colony ships can colonize the planet and fighters can still shoot other ships, but other then that, all the ships in the sector are permanently stuck there for the duration of the game. This is especially frustrating when the planet is the home world of the player or an AI player...

The game is awesome and I love playing it, however the game is unplayable until this issue can be fixed. It happens *every* game...

I guess I don't fully understand. Does it happen early or late in the game? I am trying to reproduce this.

I must admit, I've never seen this, but it probably has to do with ships not wanting to cross the point that marks where ships can't go, so if they somehow end up inside the planet, they dont' want to go out because doing so would cause them to approach this "barrier". If that is how ships are programed to stay out of planets in the first place.

I assume the planet exists throughout the entire game...usually you don't come across it till mid or late game because sometimes it's on the other side of the map.

Advalary, they end up inside the planet after warping to it, and they try to move around but they can't move from the center of the planet; you can see them turning and stuff. Also, the bandits around the planet are frozen at whatever spot they were at when you make the jump to the planet.

I'll make a savegame with it happening and etc. sometime today.

I Was playing a game with some friends and this happened to him oddly enough he cant even play custom maps.

Whats your system specs? and have you completely uninstalled the game and deleted it folder and then reinstalled?

Have you changed any files in the game folders?

I had this happen to me on the scenario called "Derelict." Early in the game, like the second or third jump I could make, I came to this asteroid field with a mineral extractor in it. Any ships (mine or the computers) that went into that sector got stuck spinning in the middle of the field and couldn't move. They were just stacked on top of each other. At first I thought I had to use some special ship or research some new technology to get through it, but eventually decided it was a design glitch. The worst part is that the sector is a bottleneck and there was no way to get around it to progress through the scenario. If anyone gets the chance, try playing Derelict (it's a small map) and see if you have the same problem.

Happened to me several times before too, its like a black hole or something, my ships would sink into the planet, or fly above the planet. I got out of it, but it took a while.
