Wing Commander Mod?

Anyone willing?

Hi all,

 

After seeing the great talent of modders start to materialize around this great game, I've thought about one of my favorite all time games quite a bit, and wondering how it would look in this game.. namely, Wing Commander

 

Wing Commander has the most amazing amount of ships of every class, in different generations even, that I think would make a great mod... the Kilrathi, Terran Confederation (YAY CONFED) and The Border Worlds would be a great combo of factions... the thing is about this kind of mod is that most ships, weapons, and cap ships are already developed and the lore part is quite well established.

Imagining a strike fleet of Bengal-class strike carriers deploying fighters and racing towards a Kilrathi fleet of Fralthi cruisers ... god its too much.

Would anyone support such an endeavour? Hell if we got enough support, I could dedicate myself to doing the lore/background of the whole thing, research etc, I just don't have the IT skills to program it in, nor the modelling capacity to do so (however there are plenty of models out there (wingcommandercic.com has a huge directory) where you could find models already done and ask permission to put them in here :)

I played the wing commander mod for homeworld 2 for months on end (actually I think I still have it installed lol) and would dearly love to see a WC mod for Sins.

The only down side would be the current fighters and bombers in Sins are so small as to be almost invisible, making the difference between a hornet, a scimitar, and a raiper all but nil unles you zoom waaay in. (Although an option to disable the z scaling for the fighters so they appear larger even when zoomed out would alleviate this a great deal.)

And the problem right now is only two fighter/bomber slots are available. You can not have three types of Strike craft on a ship/station.

Hope they let us add more.
