Strange Graphic Glitch?

Hey guys, whenever I go to play this game, I get a very strange graphical glitch, and I was wondering if anyone was having the same problem.

I am currently running the game on a 2.33ghz intel c2d laptop with a ATI x1600 graphics card.  All drivers are up to date.

When the game launched, the background is filled with different grid effects of different color.  I am presented with essentially a window into the game world.  Anytime I go to pan the camera around or up and down, the grid is present.  I have tried repairing and reinstalling the game and I continue to get the same effect.  Also when fully zoomed out this does not happen, it is only present when I am zoomed in on a system.

If anyone has any idea as to what is going on here and a fix for, it would be greatly appreciated =)

A macbook pro perchance? Others have had similar issues, but the cause is not yet known. It certainly looks like some sort of graphic memory corruption issue though, and MBPs are known to have heat issues, so you may want to try a temperature monitor to check on that.

Haha yep, macbook pro. IS this a problem related specifically to having Vista installed on it? I have talked to some people who have this running on a mac but I am not sure what their specifications were.

As for the temperature issue, I have yet to have any trouble with my laptop over heating so don't know about that.

On another note I would like to thank you for taking the time to respond =). Usually when there is trouble with a game and the company finds out its running on a mac they ignore it...which is a shame. With macs becoming more and more popular, and their ability to run windows just as well as a regular PC I think it would be in most companies interest to help mac users =)

I have a different problem. Whenever I am in a game (doesn't happen all of the time) it suddenly glitches and my graphics go haywire and I cannot make out even a planet. It seems like it is distorting every image and I have to restart my computer entirely. I am also running a mac book pro with a x1600.

See if the system is getting too hot--get a temperature monitor program and keep an eye on it while you play. We've had issues with MBP users with GC2 as well, which were a complete mystery until one user started monitoring the temperature and found out that the laptop's internals were getting to 90C...

I agree with Kryo, laptops really are not meant for gaming. Sure, there are laptops that are built for gaming but even those can get very hot. More then likely your laptop is getting too hot, you might not experience heating issues but the more load intensive the game is on the system the harder everything has to work, which can raise temperatures pretty drastically without you even realizing this change. Which can be pretty common in laptops. I had a pretty good laptop a few years ago that I played games like Half Life 2 on. It was a Mobile AMD XP 2ghz, 1gig of ram, and built on ATI Card with 128mb of memory. My system never ran that hot, unless I tried to play my games. While playing, my laptop would get extremely hot on the bottom, hot enough to probably burn my skin if I left it on my lap. So I suggest you get a program to monitor your system temperatures and post what it reads out. More then likely, your GPU is getting over heated and isn't rendering properly.

I'm on a Dell desktop, running Vista and have the same problem with graphics. Here is my setup:

System: Dell Dimension C521
BIOS: Phoenix - Award Workstation BIOS v6.00PG
Processor: AMD Sempron Processor 3400+, ~1.8GHz
Memory: 2046MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 10
Video: Radeon X1300 with 1019 MB Ram
Video Driver: 7.14.0010.0443

Any suggestions?

Tony, from the looks of it your laptop should easily run this game even on the highest of settings. Like in my previous post, I think you should try to get some software to monitor the temperatures. You can try to turn down your graphical settings to the minimal settings and see if it does the exact same thing as it did before with the highest settings. I would assume that if it acts the same no matter what level of settings you put it at, that you might have some sort of drivers problem. If it seems to work better with lowest graphics and will gradually seem to get worse, then I can only assume your laptop is heating up too much.

Good luck with the problems, I wish I had ways to fix the problems for good but there really isn't much to do for solutions. You can always try to get one of those laptop coolers for it to sit on, but that would be getting into things I don't really know anything about. So I couldn't really tell you what would be best to get if you wanted to try that.

Hmmm not sure about the overheating, I have only had my laptop overheat once while in Vista, and that was with the ATI Tool overclocking my graphics card running, of course the laptop shuts down before any damage is done. I have played much more resource intensive games on my laptop with no problem at all. Also the graphic glitch is persistant at all times, even from a fresh start after the laptop has been sitting all night.

I can see the overheating issue being the cause behind the game running fine for a little while and then freezing up and crashing, but for the graphic glitch that doesn't seem to make much sense.

I am curious though if this is only related to Vista and this model of Macbook pro.

I have talked to other mac gamers who have gotten this game running just fine on their macbook pro's, and I know that with some games like Everquest 2, the game won't run in XP but runs fine in Vista, so there are definitely a lot of variables i guess.
