How to Solve Problem of Not Enough Video Memory

So I have really wanted to play this game for about a week now and I finally got it from a friend today/ However it was crashing after the intro video each time I tried to play. Then I realized that my laptop(HP Pavilion Entertainment PC) was too bad too run it. My videocard is a Nvidia GEForce Go 6150 with only 64 mb. So I was llokin it up and apparently I can make it so that my video card uses 128 mb if I have 2 GB of RAM. I do have 2 GB RAM, so how exactly can I make my card use 128 if it is possibe?

Its not possible. Video memory and RAM are different things, so one cant take over for the other. Sorry.

Only thing you can do is buy a new graphics card.

Kye.

I am surprised it won't run- I am running on a 64 mb card. Try dialing down the graphics all the way if you can.

Ah, so your video card can share RAM with the system?

Well, I don't think that's really going to change anything. Simulating having 128MB is nowhere near as good as actually having 128MB, and since 128MB is the minimum needed I don't think your system is going to be able to run it, even if you did get 2GB of RAM.

Ya nothing you can do with that. Video Memory isn't the only thing your going to run into. 6150 is pretty low from the miminum spec (6800) Your best off just to buy a new card, especially since it wont be able to run any new games now. I have a 6200 256mb overclocked and I was surprised I was able to run Sins, I can't do any huge late game stuff with full Pop though

Yeah I remember reading around that some people with old systems were playing this game below min specs. If that is the case I'm not sure why mine doesn't work. As I said earlier it starts up but once the intro video is over the screen just stays blank. Then if I alt-tab out of it it usually has a message saying that it memory-dumped some temporary files or something like that.

If your system does allow you to change the amount of RAM used by your onboard video (some do, some don't), it is generally done via BIOS when you first turn the machine on.

I actually got it to work by going into BIOS and now I can play the game. Thanks a lot everybody. The game is great.

Should sticky this or put in some FAQ thread, because bound to be other people who want to play the game on their laptops with 4ghz CPUs, 4GB ram and 64mb graphics cards..

the setting you are looking for in bios is called "agp aperture." this allows your pc to use ram as video memory, although its wayyy slower.

also i would suggest learning how to use rivatuner if your video card is underpowered.

google is your friend.

Actually thats not entirely correct, because even when you have an external PCI/AGP/PCI-E card, that option is still there (usually set to 64). I'm happy to be proven wrong, this is just from my experience, no research done :)
