The figures are taken directly from the in-game description of each ship.

kind of a waste of time... on feb 13th i posted the exact same chart but in an easier to read excel spreadsheet. i also listed links to at least 6 other posts with the same kinds of charts (here)

nice effort though...

which have been known to be incorrect when it comes to damage and are just rounded values to make the UI seem more user friendly (although it is just dumbed down and doesnt make it any more user friendly).

The chart on the link you provided is too confusing. I'll just trust that the game developers put the correct information in the game. My chart information came from the information provided in the game.

Simple is better :)

simple != correct.

if you're going to make charts, please try to use the actual stats, not stats that have been changed to be rough estimates (one is off by 33%) in integer value.

example of one that is way off:
advent fighter displays 1 dps ingame (to see that display, zoom in till you see the fighter itself and check the infocard), it actually does 1.33 dps.

Seriously? removing .33 is confusing in itself. Advent fighters come in swarms of 9. Multiply that by 6 carriers, and you get 54 dps by your terms, and 71.82 in reality.

This kind of information is useful and should be posted on the wiki now that it is up and running http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sins_of_a_Solar_Empire

It's a lot easier than searching the forums.

Newer players need to realize:
1. the numbers improve as you research the military technology tree.
2. Capital ships get stronger as they gain levels and add abilities.
3. There is a synergistic relationship between ships - they cover each others weak spots - in a way that is hard to quantify in this kind of table.

one thing I noticed that was missing was fighter and bomber squads for each faction.

Very cool. I made it a sticky post.  Great chart!
just remember people, the damage shown in the above chart and on infocards ingame is not the actual damage used for game mechanics.

So it is a wrong to feel slighted that my own comparison chart, in its fourth version, made 4 weeks ago, with 4x as much information, with 4+ people asking for it to be stickied, is ignored in favor of this one?

True. Zyrxil's chart is much better than this one, even if it doesn't have a stupid Kol picture at the top. It has precise armor stats, actual ability descriptions(not just names), abilities for all ships(not just capitals), level-up boosts for capital ships, damage/armor types on hand, and extra stuff for tactical/logistics structures and planets. It's not an instant database like the roe.totalgamingnetwork site, but it's obviously much more worthy of a sticky than this simplistic compilation is.

Zyrxil: Great spreadsheet, but I have two questions:

1) You list DPS only, not how much each attack does and the reload/cooldown time.

Obviously 20 damage / 2 second will lose less DPS to armour than 5 damage / 0.5 second.

2) For the ships that have multiple weapons vs ships - e.g. Capital battleships: Do all their attacks do Capital damage? (And then I don't care about the planet-only attack)

3) How's attack type vs armour type affecting shield?

Do all attacks do 100% damage vs shields, or is the ship's armour-type being used to calculate damage done to shield too?

No, you don't get how armor works. First off, armor and hull, shields, and armor types are completely unrelated. Shields are a first layer of defense and their workings, with shield mitigation and regeneration, counting only as long as they're up(though mitigation is supposed to stay around according to the manual). Armor types are a simple damage modifier.

But 1 point of armor gives a 5% boost to "effective hp". This means that an attack hitting an armor rating of 5 will be doing 125% of it's actual damage. That 25% extra gets kicked off by armor and only the remaining damage reduces hitpoints. So 20 damage will be 125% of the actual damage inflicted against 5 Armor, so only 16 damage gets through. For 5 damage, only 4 gets through. 16/2 = 8. 4/0.5 = 8. Same deal.

Neither Zyrxil's nor Kruelgor's charts have PreBuffCoolDown on them. Only this website gives that degree of comprehensive info, extracted directly from the files.

3) How's attack type vs armour type affecting shield?

Do all attacks do 100% damage vs shields, or is the ship's armour-type being used to calculate damage done to shield too?

AFAIK, armor types work from the start, with shields up or without. But this hasn't been confirmed by the devs, so no one can be completely sure.

2) For the ships that have multiple weapons vs ships - e.g. Capital battleships: Do all their attacks do Capital damage? (And then I don't care about the planet-only attack)

All the weapons on a capital ship do Capital damage, but Bomber Squadrons deployed off of them will still do AntiVeryHeavy damage and Fighter Squadrons will still do AntiLight.

It's just a basic chart. Any information you see is taken directly from in the game.
