I've been playing for a week now and decided to up my game so came looking for the game stats.

Google Document Link
Best site for me, the Damage Types section was the most enlightening of the lot and is a must read for all new players.

Wiki Link
This one was way to dense for my tastes and as someone already mentioned it is more for a mod designer, I'm not going to keep looking if I have to whip out my calculator every 10 seconds to get the DPS. Though I'll keep the link and use it every so often when I have one of those tricky questions.

Turn down the contrast Link
This one was not for me, the red starts to burn through your eyes in less than 20 seconds and needs to be changed. A button needs to be added so you can sort by Ship type as well as well as race, an option to sort by DPS might not be a bad idea either. If I was about to play the game for the first time this table might be useful to me but after a few games I'd be done with it.

Not to be left out of the argument I'll put in my two cents,
"You can train a noob but he'll just be a trained noob."
Anyone below the top 30%-40% is usually just a casual player who plays for fun and does not care to much about the DPS at all. The Serious players will take their time to find a good guide and the casual players will be happy with their striped down version. So stop worrying about noobs getting the wrong ideas from inaccurate data, they will never get much better even if they had the right data anyway. Decent players will not be mislead and they will look for the in game values.
Someone just make a new thread with links to all three sets of info labeling them as below and get that stickied and get rid of this flame war thread altogether.

A suggestion for the Capital ships section, add another DPS column and just put in the averages for each gun facing that direction.
For example
------------------------
Radiance Battleship
10.0 (Plasma) Front
15.0 (Beam) Front
------------------------
Average frontal DPS is 25 but if I want to compare that to the Kol Battleship I have to take out a calculator or start doing math in my head
Kol Battleship
------------------------
9.0 (Beam) Front
34.0 (Autocannon) Front / Sides / Rear
8.25 (Laser) Front
------------------------
Think that comes to 28.58 (I'm assuming I divide the autocannon by three) I had to make assumptions their and use a calculator so it would be nice to have it all done for me I'm lazy. This way I could quickly figure out which Capital ship I would most like for early planet clearence.(excluding abilities)

For those of you who read this far a little treat -> http://xkcd.com/406/

Good stuff.

Now that you mention it, I guess the red is kind of crazy. I'll see what I can do.

Thanks

All the chart needs is weapons ranges!

The LRM is great for staying alive because it is too far away to be attacked,
so all you need in the front are Flack ships to take the hits, and you can keep your fleet in perfect working order...

Yes, I plan on adding a bunch of new information to the chart within the next week including a counter unit chart which will tell you the best ships to use to counter another ship.

That would be very helpful. Good idea, Kruelgor.

Also: do the races' differant strikecraft have idiosyncrisies enough to justify putting them up on the chart as well?

I personally prefer loading a fleet with capital ships and simply crushing the enemy with nukes and rail guns. My favorite ship is the Marza Dreadnaught from the TEC. I a;so use fighters maybe too much. He should add fighters and bombers to the chart.:)

Should add a note to Javelin LRM along the lines of 'Build lots of this unit to win'.

maybe he should label capital ships and put fighters in

This is a great site - is there any way to download the document in spreadsheet format?

I would love to be able to manipulate some of the numbers.  Maybe bring them up to date, or work on adding another page so give updated stats for one faction's ships vs. other factions, ship by ship.  Possibly adding in capital ship abilities that affect the ships (like Concentration Aura for the Rapture).

Thanks!

Hi, new player here.  Been trying to read as much as possible so I understand all the game mechanics and whatnot.  My question is:

Why is this chart stickied?

When I a want more detail on the game, I need accurate data to assess and compare.  I expect that data to come for the game files, not from rounded off text descriptions that are susceptible to typos and rounding errors.

Seriously, who goes looking for more info on a game and decides they don't need the correct numbers, just numbers that are "close enough"?  Anyone who is willing to hunt down more information on ship details outside of the game, is looking for ACCURATE data.  People who don't care about accuracy don't even bother looking for this kind of info in the first place.

What's worse, this post is stickied, so it's the first chart I looked at.  Stickying this literally misinforms new players and we have to dig even deep for accurate numbers.  You know, useful info, rather than misleading info.

While I appreciate the work that went into making this chart, I don't appreciate having my time wasted.  I think this post should be unstickied.  It is a diservice to new gamers such as myself.

Quoting [MAGOG,
Kruelgor" reply="25" id="1638570"]Zyrxil: Great spreadsheet, but I have two questions:1) You list DPS only, not how much each attack does and the reload/cooldown time.Obviously 20 damage / 2 second will lose less DPS to armour than 5 damage / 0.5 second.2) For the ships that have multiple weapons vs ships - e.g. Capital battleships: Do all their attacks do Capital damage? (And then I don't care about the planet-only attack)3) How's attack type vs armour type affecting shield?Do all attacks do 100% damage vs shields, or is the ship's armour-type being used to calculate damage done to shield too?

It's just a basic chart. Any information you see is taken directly from in the game.

End of [MAGOG's quote

I agree, if had a mod it would be totally different

1 does not equal 1.33

Saying that this is the case is equivalent to saying that 7.5 = 10

Having this as a sticky turns me off of this fourm completely. I will be using other sources for my sins strategy.

Edit 5/23/09: Eh. I just noticed the disclaimer on the page regarding averages. I guess that makes it a _little_ better.

You should add how many strike craft each ship can maintain at once
