Pirates jump stars?

Alright, so I'm cringing and bracing myself for random flames of "RTFM." But I can't find TFM.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows if during Pirate raids, do Pirates jump stars just as willingly as they jump planets?

The scenario is this: I'm making a new map, but I want to isolate Pirate bases in star systems all their own - with no other players. I was wondering if Pirates then jump star systems at all...

Also, if I have multiple star systems with several Pirate bases in each, during a Pirate raid, do all of them just attack a single faction enmasse? In other words, would it be advisable to just create 1 or 2 Pirate bases so people don't get wiped in the beginning of the game by pirates?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Pirates do not have the technology necessary for inter-star system jumps.

You could have just said no...

Pirates DO jump stars. I've had it happen when most of their fleet was occupied with the last raid, so reinforcements came to complete the new raid (large random map, 3 stars).

As to the second question, I think you should try it with many pirates and let us know what happens. I suspect that only a normal amount of pirates will come. They seem fairly organized between systems to me.

Yeah, they jump stars, that's true.

Regarding your second question: in my experience, no, they don't mass from different pirate bases. I -think- they'll deploy from the pirate base closest to the raid target, but I'm not certain. I'm pretty sure they don't come from multiple bases in a single raid, though.
