WinCustomize updates 10/4/04

Gallery Search, Home Page links, Master Apprentices

Not to many updates to report today. This is just pretty much what I was able to get updated  Friday.

  • Fixed: Searching causing "NumComments is neither dataColumn nor a data relations tables" error.
  • Add links to return to your WinCustomize Personal Skinning Page. ie: Where it says Welcome T-Man.  Clicking on your name will take you to your home page.  Or when you click on My Account it the URL will poing to your home page instead of the site you are currently visiting.
  • Added Personal Page, Home Page and Blog site listing to Author Info page.
  • Master Apprentices (Access Level 3) and up can now create their own WinCustomize Personal Skinning Page. (http://skinners.wincustomize.com/createsite.aspx)

Hey, when I, for example, go to http://cerebrojd.wincustomize.com from a different computer then usual, then login using my information, it showes my two articles that I've written as being unread. I thought this was a little unusual so I thought I'd bring it to your attention.

And now that theres two (well, three including this one) on this article, its still showing as having only one comment on it in the little rectangle at the bottom of the article.

(sorry for three posts in a row )

Edit: Well, now its fixed itself. Maybe its only an issue when theres two comments.

It's a caching issue. What is happening is that one person visits a page and the data gets cached with his view.  Then when you visit the page you are seeing his view.  I noticed the problem myself last week.  I just haven't come up with a good solution to the problem yet.

Oh, forgot to mention.  On the stats page, the More button for the Site Referrals now displays a page showing referrals to your site instead of the Referral Rank list.

Question for ya: Is there a way that we could see the listings of the Authors total downloads from each library? For example: Right now, it says that I've had 108,000 or so downloads from the WinMedia library, and that I'm in fourth overall for total downloads, but I'd like to find out who the three are above me. Is there a way to build that into it? Perhaps when I click the WinMedia link beside my total downloads from that library?

New name links finally make the site usable! Thanks! I'm also LOVING the JU integation!

An issue to be concerned about: Firefox does not display some of the sections correctly. If you want more information, i'd be glad to post a screenshot of what I'm seeing.

"Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding."

I get that error 2 out of 3 times I click on my Watch List.

Sorry T-Man, ...I did ask this in another thread, but it's been sitting there for 4 days without response. ....No biggie mate ...I know you're busier than a badger in a beehive!

Just wanted to know if provisions would be made whereby we could upload our own (small) graphic as the site header to our personal sites at WinC and JU. I have a logo I've been working on, and would like to use it for my site.....

Odd....although I've read all of the articles on your site (t-man.wincustomize) they still all show up on it as unread when I'm at your home page....
