Effects problem during combat mid-game.

After I've been playing the game for about 15-20 minutes (everything, absolultely everything works perfectly previously to this point) I start noticing a graphics error with my fleets. I can hear the weapons being fired in combat, and the enemy hit points decrease, but I don't actually see the firing animations, nor do the enemy ship explosion animations occur. The ship simply disappears from the screen with a thunderous noise, but not visible explosion.

Combat animations seem to run perfectly fine for me early in a game. But, like I said, after about 20 minutes. They cease to exist on anything except for capital ships (which still, oddly, show their firing animations, but not explosion ones).

I doubt this is a problem with hardware on my machine (if someone knows otherwise though, please tell me), but want to know if anyone else was noticing this issue.

My machine is -

Intel Core2 6600 2.4 gig dual core processor

4 gigs of ram (technically 3.07 because windows is like that, but there are 4 full sticks in there)

GeForce 8800 GTS

As you can see, my machine is a freaking beast. Hence why this animation issue is so frustrating to me.

Kinda seems like that also on my rig.

Vista Ultimate 64
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHZ
8.00 GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce 8800GT latest drivers.

I hear the sounds and I even zoom way in but no details going on.

Actually I am having the exact same problem. It seems during midgame when I have larger fleets I do not see any weapons effects. I have all of the graphics details on high or highest except bloom is off.

Vista 64
Intel Core2 Duo E6850 3.0 GHZ
4 GB RAM
XFX Geforce 8800 GTS 512MB

All drivers and bios is updated.

All my drivers and such are updated as well. And I run it with mostly everything on high or highest and bloom on, but still no midgame weapons/explosions animations.

Somebody please shed some light on this.

I experienced this for the first time last night. My friend previously had complained that his fleet wasn't attacking, but I thought he was crazy.

For me, I was playing the Vasari, and the only attacks that were visible were the wave guns. All other weapon effects could not be seen (such as from my frigates).

Saving the game and reloading it did fix the problem, but was very odd.

Could it be possible the game was trying to reduce load on your systems and thus preventing lag from large scale fights? It would make sense to only show the few hundred ships and special abilities effects minus the few thousand weapon fire effects.

Just my $0.02

It's a possibility, but it's still an irritation when I want to see the firing effects.

It was fixed in the latest patch as of writing (as far as I know - I haven't had it occur to me since the latest patch). Have you updated to the latest version of Sins and tried seeing if the problem still exists?
