[Port Overlapping Issue , plz help, tks]

I wanna set up my router so that both my computers can host sins.
Problem occured.

This is my setup input

2 different ip address for the 2 computers, and they use the same port for SOASE.

When i click save settings:

I get the port overlapping msg.

Can anyone give me some ideas on how to overcome this issue?

Tks

[note: I only wanna set it up so that both my comuters can host, but I believe the router misunderstood that I wanted to host a game with port 6112 with 2 computers at the same time.]

Of course, you cannot do that (forward all data on the SAME port to DIFFERENT IP's). ;)

What you need to do, is change the game hosting port (ie. 6112) for one of the two computers you want to host from in the "user.setting file" under the "GameHostPort" entry.

XP
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting

Vista
C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting

For example computer one would host on 6112 and computer two would host on 6113. Then forward port 6113 from the router to computer two.

You will still only be able to forward the ICO port (6000) to one computer at a time.

thanks,

Thanks alot monk, great guide on hosting btw. And about the 6000 port, should i change it to another port as well? the user.setting file have it's settings under "gameboradcastport 6000". or do i have to keep it at 6000 and change it everytime on router setting to the hostin computers ip everytime i host?

P.S. after setting up the stuff accourdin the your guide, i don't even get the ICO hosting message anymore .. yay ^_^

Glad to hear you found the guide helpful! :)

If you change the "gamebroadcastport" to something else on the second machine just make sure you forward the corresponding port from your router as well.
