ConvertXSI.exe doesnt work

I try double clicking on the .exe file but all it does is open an ms-dos window and immedietly closes as if it crashed. Anyone know why its doing that?

Im running windows xp sp2, 2g ram, ATI Radeon X1300, 80g hard drive, pentium 4 processor, all on a dell computer. So I think my computer is fine.

Please help. Thanx :D

Haven't used it, but I think it's a run command, look in the manual coming with the tools.

ya Leo that happened to me as well

You need to run it from the command prompt. Give it the filename of the .xsi file to convert and the name of the .mesh file to create.

Just to help my fellow idiots because it took me at least 6 tries to get the right commands here is an easy to follow xsi to mesh conversion tutorial...

First click Start/Run/and type cmd

a command line prompt window will open and display with this

C:\Documents and Settings\whaterelseitwillsay\blaghblaghblagh>

then change thedirectory path by typing cd

C:\Documents and Settings\whaterelseitwillsay\blaghblaghblagh>cd

followed by the desired path in this case it was

C:\Documents and Settings\whaterelseitwillsay\blaghblaghblagh>cd C:\sinsofasolarempire\ConvertXSI

this is the format to use for converting your xsi file

C:\sinsofasolarempire\ConvertXSI>convertxsi.exe <"nameofyourxsifile".xsi> <"nameyouwantthemeshtohave.mesh> <--nooptimize>

example below...

C:\sinsofasolarempire\ConvertXSI>convertxsi.exe ball.xsi ball.mesh --nooptimize

this will convert the file

in my example the xsi file was moved to this folder for ease of use and i highly recomend it.

Make sure you have your model selected as an Object (hit space bar) then apply your tangents.
