Font sizes and 1920 x 1080

Is there a setting somewhere to increase the entire UI font size 50% larger? I'm playing this on a 40" 1080p display, so I have to sit a bit far back from the screen, but it makes all the text "straining" to read it. As it's an LCDTV, it only supports 1080p or 1280x1024 (but in 16:9 only, so the aspect ratio is off) or 1280x768, and not any of the other intermediate resolutions.

No, however if you check the library (see the downloads page), there is a mod there that changes all of the game's fonts to a standard sans-serif font that should be more legible at a distance.

Excellent mod. Fixed my 1920x1200 visibility.

Thanks for the mod. I was also having a hard time reading with the default fonts.

Does anyone know what needs to be altered for this mod to work with 1.03? Since the patch, it doesn't work right--getting something like "String not found" on some screens.

I really miss my "Trebuchet" font...

The font mod induces errors now with 1.03. activate it and go to the multi-player map selection screen. You will see some buttons missing and 'String not found'...

Love the font mod, it needs fixin!

I'd like the font mod fixed as well. It's quite useful.

That's why I never do mods; I did twice now with two different games, and it totally messed the games so a total reinstall was needed. And if this mod is so "great" why would the devs not put some type of setting with the game. I can put my resolution up really high, but since I can't read the text at that great setting, I have to keep it at "1024x768 :/

Works fine for me. Even after the patch.

That is an excellent mod but when I updated to 1.03 it won't work. As soon as I enable the mod the game pley screen says something to the effect of script error, not sure of exact words (I'm at work so don't tell on me :D ).

Only if you have vista or Office 2007 (or the office 2007 compatibility pack) installed. I don't have either (apart from on my work PC) and changed all the fonts to Arial, reduced all font sizes by 2 (which makes the characters the same size as in Segoe UI and allowed me to remove the Windows folder from the mod - all the text fits on the dialogue without having to change them). I haven't had any problems with 1.03 and the changes I made to it, although I haven't looked too closely for problems.

You can always uninstall the mod, it's modular here in SoaSE rather than full file integration. I think the font is one of the most requested changes in game. They have suggested that the new 1.1 patch after 1.04 will address some high resolution issues so all we can do is hope.

Hello,

I've had the same problem that you guys had re: "String Not Found". Since I was playing the game on my 52" TV, I was in absolutely no position to even try to use the standard game font. Using Xiskio's mod v.8 yielded great results however some elements did show "String Not Found.

After examining the mod and comparing it to the game's default data I came up with two possible solutions:

(a) Either copy the contents from: String/ and Window/ into your mod-v1.19/Xiskio's Font Mod/ (or whichever directory you have the mod installed in), and overwrite the existing contents of these directories.

OR

(b) Try erasing String/ and Window/ from the mod directory, this will cause the game to only load the Font/ mod directory and still use the default stuff from the unmodified game.

HTH,

Regards,
