I kept waiting for someone here to make a post about it no one did so I guess the duty falls to me...
It was truly a very dark day in the world the other day; the father of RPG and arguably to a large extent of the video gaming industry died. For those of us that would be classified as first gen gamers D&D was the genesis of it all. The man, Gary Gygax who dreamed up D&D died after a long sickness. In short he basically pioneered tabletop role-playing games. One of the truly great lights of story telling, gaming and very inventive minds is no more. As a culture we [gamers] are greatly weakened by his loss. All gamers owe Gary a great debt of gratitude to be sure. -- Respect

I have always wanted to tell him thanks for only real good part of my childhood and teen years but now I'll never get the chance. Everyone should know this man loved games and gamers to a very large degree. For example for many, many years of his life gamers would show up at his house to say hi and he would take to his basement and game with them and from what I understand sometime the entire weekend. Gary was the father or uncle figure I always wished I had.
Now if only we got that kind of love from the current generation of developers. I have attached a commemorative image someone made for him that I found somewhere. If you have a printer at home I suggest print it up postcard stock framing it and put it on your wall. Gary was truly worthy.

It would be real nice if any SD/IC people that played D&D would make a comment on the developers memorial thread for him - hint, hint...
