Allegiance Questions

So i've played a few games now, and i find myself always lacking in the military department but killing in the cultural department.

I know that as you mover further and further away from your capital, the allegiance of the planet to your side decreases.   I know that if you move yoru capital it raises the planets closest up, but the planets that were near the old capital, including the capital drop.

So a couple of questions.

1.  Is allegiance similar or the same as culture?
2.  How do you get the allegiance of planets to stay?  (i.e. when you move your capital)
3.  Do you get a capital for each solar system? (big maps)
4. Are there other ways to get allegiance higher other than broadcast towers and different technologies? ( I saw the advent had some based on techs.)

Cheers for the help,

1) They are tied to gether - culture spread increases your allegiane and reduces the enemy's. However, culture spread is not capped but allegiance gain/loss is capped to +/0 .05/sec. The more culture you have over the enemy, the higher the allegiance change you can have. I don't know the exact formula, but say if you're only generating 2 culture over the enemy, he might get a -.01 allegiance change, but if you're generating 20 more he'll get the full -.05. [Someone correct me if I'm wrong on the mechanics]

2) Not sure what you mean? All the planet allegiances are automatically updated when you move the capital. They start generating more if their max has risen, and start losing if their max has dropped, this is normal.

3) Nope, only one, but star systems all count as one jump apart, so if your capital is one jump away from your star, the planet 1 jump away from any other star will be at 70%, which is pretty good.

4) Nope :P

Well when i moved my capital from one planet to another, the original captial dropped in allegiance from 110% to 90%, it's not instant either.. it was over time. Was just curious why it didn't at least stay at 100%. The back planets also dropped.. one went from 100 to 70%.

I'm not looking to keep them all at 100% I know that's impossible... but i would like them to stay between 80 - 90% ya know?

Also, some planets just seemed to be capped, which i am assuming is based on distance away from the capital. Was mroe asking if there is a cap to how high the allegiance can go based on distance.. or if there was something i was doing wrong more or less.

The distance in number of jumps from your homeworld determines the allegiance cap of your colonies. Eventually, when the maps get large enough, maintaining an average of 80-90% just isn't going to be feasible.

When you move your homeworld, the caps of your colonies immediately adjust to compensate but the changes in your actual allegiance will happen over time.

Distance from homeworld is all that determines the planets' max allegiance. So when you move your homeworld, all the distances are recalculated and so are the allegiances because of the changed distance :)

The Advent is the only race that has a tech to increase the max by another 10% on top of the culture, otherwise the first few jumps drop by 10%, then it changes progression a bit, but the lowest it can go is 25% without culture (so 35% with).

Hopefully that answers your question :)

Also speaking from experience. I think you can only benefit from one culture building. Meaning 10% max like the previous poster has said. I have tried 3 culture buildings and I still receive the same amount.

Basically allegiance is determined by distance from your capital. But you can only add 10% to it. But it's good to build at least one to spread your culture to enjoy the benefits. TEC culture allows you to regenerate antimatter faster for example. And also to colonize borders planets easier or defend easier as it takes a while for culture to recede. So you can mount a defense easier.

Hv fun.
