Ugh, would it be unreasonable to ask that you take screenshots in a much saner, proper screen resolution size? 4000x4000 is a little inconvenient when I could look at a 1024x768 and get just as much information at a glance.

So it's basically an oceanic planet with several large islands on it?

What I find weird is that the screenshot was sized UP to get it that big. That's not it's natural resolution.

But, enough about the huge screenshots... ^_^

Whoops my bad. heres better sized.
actually I felt that you really cant classify planets the way they currently were so am making a mod with better sorted planet types.

So what does this all have to do with sins?

well i am designing planets that have properties that affect gameplay based on these assumptions so he goes some examples.

there will be new sub types of each planet type

Terran :

Island planet,Tundra(icy),Desert(barren),Dense Atmosphere(venuslike),Forest,Swamp,Primordial(prehistoric earth).giant (high grav earth)

Ice :

frozen comet,comet,ocean core(slushball),frozen asteroid,Methane volcanic.

Gas giant :

Huge earth(think a bit smaller than neptune) ,Jovian(jupiterlike),Protostar(almost a brown dwarf)

Plasma Storms :

I place these around my stars to simulate solar flares and prominences .

Magnetic clouds I place around my gas giants to simulate the clouds of charged particles surrounding these bodies .

Wormholes:

Although the Idea of wormholes does not sit well with my theories of the universe ,I use these as my sole connections
to other stars,

Stars :

In my Galaxy's There are no connections to stars ,rendering them as just a pretty ball, Logically speaking ,Approaching A Star at even A modest distance. (say one or 2 solar disk's distance away )becomes a suicide mission
There simply is to much violence surrounding this reigon in so many different forms that approach would be unlikley,so i eliminate star travel altogether and use the plasma storm as my near star rout s around it.

Now Assignig values to things like gravity strength, temperature ,magnetic field ,shape, size ,planet type is A balancing issue And needs to be tested before any real numbers would be useful ,but changes to population growth, population cap,tax rate, tactical and logistical slots,Health,Gravity well,And all that other stuff i am trying to work in.

Uh, next time don't resize your images to be square when they're at 4:3. It's difficult to judge the quality of the textures when you don't preserve the aspect ratios on the screenshots.

I just have a small suggestion concerning what I'm assuming are city lights on your planets. Take a look at space photos of the earth and how the lights are distributed. I believe you need to have some smaller patches/dots of lights interspersed between the giant swaths of city. That will make it look more natural and pretty.

I like your idea of better classifying the orbital bodies for a more realistic game.

personnaly, I would like to see binary solar systems, with a big start with a smaller one orbiting close to the priamary one.

And maybe also using whormholes as replacement for stars.
Idk what kind of orbital bodies would live around a whorhole tho.

On that point I don't think he has finished the Night side. They are still from the night side of my Forest World, and he probably hasn't edited that side to match up with his light side texture.

Edit: Oops, misread, the paragraph below is a little out of context, but still slightly relevant.
As to the brightness comment, as much as I agree with lights on Earth, think; this is some distance in the future. Lighting would be infinitely more powerful and sustainable than what we have now. I would imagine the large urban areas to be fully lit, almost comparable to daylight. Hence I made the lights on my planets bright and clearly visible from space. Also, it looks cooler ;)

Nice texture Pmutzu, thats one hell of a project you have proposed, good luck, and any help I can offer, I'll do my best.

inpressive are you bring them in choops or 1 big mod?

also what is kind of odd the screenshots show the planet as egg form rater then a ball
