Single player Mode problems .. Kindly help

Hey everyone,

Iam a PC newbie and just got soasE as gift from someone i have installed the game and after playing tutorial i tried to play single player game.

When i click new game it just gives me option to play small medium and large scenarios like quickstrike centrifuge etc or a random map or custom scenario

Isnt there a campaign mode of some sort or are there only melee maps in this game which i attune to difficulty of my liking ?  iam overwhelmed when i tried to play first map with all options ships and tech open for research or building in the very first map of the game

Iam kinda lost here kindly guide me

There is no campaign, just a big sandbox that you can tune to your liking :)

To start off, I would highly recommend sticking to a small map, and just playing against one easy AI until you get the hang of the game. Multiple AIs intriduce quite a bit of extra complexity and can lead to lots of frustration for newer players :)

If you haven't played the tutorials yet, you should, they'll give you the basics at least :)

Any questions, feel free to ask! Hope this helps :)

Being a newbie myself, also take the above-suggested map without Pirates.

Use pause a lot and open the manual.

I just finished my first game after two consectutive nights till 1:00 am.

Soase is not hard but it sure is deep!  :)

Play the tutorial, it's there for a reason.

"Pause Game" is the "Pause/Break" key on US keyboards. If you're ever unsure about which key does what in the game, there's a setup/options menu for key bindings.

Be sure to play all of the tutorials to get a basic (and only a basic) understanding of the game mechanics.

To really learn how to play the game, read through some of the posts in the Strategy forum; there are a couple of guides that can help.

Did you try the tutorials? They get you through the basics and then you can go from there. Try having a 4 player map with an AI teammate and use locked teams to pin an AI player onto your side so you can see how the game works. Alternatively, playing against a couple of easy AI's works too. Just be sure to lock teams or you'll get frustrated quickly--the AI likes to gang up on human players when it's unlocked.

When you get a bit more comfortable then you can put in the pirates and increase the AI difficulty on some (not necessarily all) opponents. Good luck!

Also, if the game seems excessively slow, remember you can speed it up or slow it down using + and -, respectively.
