Sound drops post upgrade to v1.3

As the title says I am now loosing my sound, first voices then sound effects then music after I have installed V1.3. Any ideas?

I'm running a 3.1ghz duel core, 2 gig ram, with MS Vista premium. Yes, all drivers are up to date.
