So i was running the unmodded game perfectly for the last few days. I have a geforce 9600 gt in my PCIx16 slot, and a geforce 6800 in the other PCI slot (non-SLI setup, of course). I run the game in windowed mode and stretch it out over the three screens for an awesome display. I did enough digging around to find out this is possible, and usually safe and stable, as long as the two cards are running off of the same driver. So i had it all set up and it was working beautifully.
So then last night, i thought i would try out some of the graphics mods for the game, got em all loaded up and was running the game for less than an hour, and i got a hard freeze. Had to restart the computer.
That was the last time i got both cards and all three monitors to work. The 6800 is ok, im using it now, but the 9600 might possibly be fried. I'm suspicious that something in one of the mods overtaxed my system, causing the 9600 to meltdown.
I did a system restore first, and the box would still freeze up just before the windows login screen. So i started up in safe mode a few times, and reinstalled the drivers from the 9600 disk, then DL'd the latest drivers from nvidia, and loaded them up for both cards using the "found new hardware" wizard.
Still to no avail, i got to the point with the windows display properties where i set the resolution for the 2 screens hooked into the 9600 and "extend my desktop view to this screen" option, and neither screen hooked to the 9600 would do anything, save for a thin line of green pixels across the top of one screen, the system locked up, and threw itself into a crash/reboot loop.
At this point, im kinda thinking i fried the 9600, but i can't be sure. I guess the next step is to reinstall the 9600 by itself and see if i get anything.
If anyone has any ideas or experience running 2 cards (non-SLI) and 3 monitors, please help me out here. Thanks in advance!
