Access to the Desktop

I am running the Zone Alarm Firewall, and when a program asks for the internet, it prompts for permission.  Once Sins takes over, I am not seeing the prompts. 
 
How can I exit the game window back to the desktop to take care of the firewall prompts, then get back into the game?
 
I have tried ctrl-alt-delete to use Windows Task Manager, but it doesn't penetrate the game window.
 
I am running Windows XP

u could temporarily run the game in a window (as set in the game's visual options), and then revert back to full screen ...

Holding alt and pressing tab works pretty well too. Pressing the Windows key will often dump you to the desktop as well.
