Fix the Forums...

Forums are performing as they are hosted on ZX Spectrum hooked up to 28k modem. This setup is perfect for killing online community and i am sure noone here wants this to happen...

So please consider performance of Forums / Forum Server as URGENT fix

Yeah, apparently (according to Stardock personnel) some folks have decided to start DOS'ing the forums.

We think it's NERD RAAAAAGE as a result of the 1.03 changes.

I am always puzzled when i see "custom" made forums - its becoming a trend with developers and is beyond me why bother at all when there are things like VBulletin out there that pwn to the ground all this dev / pub "custom" made stuff...

No offense but even freeware PHPBB is better than this...

But anyway lets hope things are fixed soon

The forums aren't broken as such, someone has been attacking the forum server all weekend, causing major lag.

Neither would be any better against a DDOS attack as we've been experiencing since Friday night. And neither is even an option--they'd have to be completely rewritten anyway to achieve the level of integration with the SD.net/registrations system as we have now. Not to mention the fact that all the existing stuff is ASP.NET/MSSQL, not PHP.

Sunday 1:30 PM (Eastern) :

I just tried to enter the SINS forum by the usual path, and the process failed : it hung for 10 minutes before I terminated the attempt.

But it was very easy to enter by the forums.stardock.com path.

FYI : to report that the situation i have been experiencing since Friday still endures.

Yeah I'm sure Stardock didn't know about this.

And if they did, they are just watching and laughing gleefully at you people not able to whine as often as before from them being intermediately down.
