Should I bother to upgrade to 1.03?

Right, I have had the game for about a week now and I just noticed that 1.03 was released a few days ago. I'm currently playing on 1.02, but with all the complaints I'm hearing on 1.03 I'm not sure I want to actually install 1.03.

So, should I keep my 1.02 and wait for the next patch instead or are there some critical stuff in 1.03 that makes it worth all the hassel?

(Note: I have not yet played any multiplayer, and it is not that important for me yet. Also, I love them Aliens so all the problems 1.03 causes the Vasari is not that encouraging!)

the two largest complaints I have are:

1. Galaxy Forge isn't 100% compatible anymore (the maps are funky if they work at all in 1.03...update is coming I've no doubt)

2. Resource Asteroids = used to be nice in 1.02, but in 1.03 there is a big shortage of them. Check my post WWW Link:

If you're not interested in multiplayer, then this patch probably won't be 'that' bad for you. Many of the complaints are justified but against the AI, it's still easy to win with any faction and several of the other changes (more effective culture and Phase Inhibitors, for example) are pretty nice.

I'd still recommend grabbing it. The market changes are a little annoying but I'd wager that'll be getting fixed in short order.

I'd go for it, the code is better and if the unit stats bother you enough then you can just change them back (after getting the 1.03 reference data from the downloads section).

The only differences I noticed were that versionNumber is now set to 1 and the browseName parameter was added. I've been able to get GalaxyForge maps to work by opening them in a text editor and making these changes.

Yes!

An improvement all round.

You can always keep an archive of 1.02 in case you don't like it. There's a box you tick in SDC.

Personally I think 1.03 is fine. It's not perfect, but 1.02 wasn't perfect either. I do like the more dynamic market prices in 1.03 which don't shoot up the very instant anyone buys, but rise and fall over time.
