Mods don't work online? (When both people have it enabled)

I made a mod, i zipped it up, sent to a friend.

When enabled we both have the same checksum of 1682477.

When i host a game on ICO and he tries to join he gets "different version" error.  And yes, we both have 1.03 and can play vanilla together fine.

Thats very strange. Normally the checksum would differ. Is the map you are trying to play exactly the same, ie. To the byte?

Also check he has installed it correctly, the Checksum only gives the size of the mod folder. If the files are in the wrong location the game will still give the same Checksum. Make sure (screenshots) he has it exactly the same way as you.

Also, make sure he can play it single player too. If he has problems there, then he could well have installed it wrong.

Good luck. (I'm off, so maybe someone else can aid you further)

it's a mod, not map.

And yeah i'm pretty sure it's the same.. I zipped up the folder for my mod and sent that to him, so we have the same things. I'm sure he installed it right since he can enable it and play it.

just a little checklist off of the top of my head
1) both using the same version
2) both using the same mod with NO other mods/modified files
3) Both didn't touch the default game directory (i know with me i use a modified sound + partial directory so i don't have to add it to every mod i play)
4) in the user.settings you got the
MaxParticleCount 16000
MaxAsteroidCount 16000
MaxDustCloudParticleCount 8000
the same (those values are modified from the original)
5)he installed it properly with all the same files that you have in that particular mod directory (what ever the mod was)

Thats all i can think of at the moment.

If you can't get it to work you could always hamachi it and do a direct connection through the 'multiplayer' interface rather than the ICO one.
