AI Loses without a fight...?

Maybe I am just being a nub here, not fully knowing the game mechanics and all, but is there a reason why AI - out of nowhere (As far as I can tell) - loses and I win, when on a map where me and the AI are either separated by a star systems or a wormhole (The one where we were separated by stars systems was generated ingame by me, and the wormhole was a single star made by me in galaxy forge) (It may do it on others but i have not tried).

I will literally be playing, have no t even fought them yet (Been taking over planets for a good bit though, and building up), and the victory screen comes up.

Teams are unlocked / playing with pirates or no pirates / playing with all the stuff on fast and a hard AI.

Thanks.

Edit: This might have been better in the technical support section?

The only thing I can think of is AI surrendering after being wiped out by other AIs?

Are you playing 1v1?

Aye, 1v1 - only other AI on the generated map was pirates, but on the custom one there were no pirates to kill them - only me and the AI.

I haven't played 1v1 so I can't say I've seen this happen, nor heard about it. I know of various ways to get the win screen right when the map loads, but not in the middle of the game  :SURPRISED:

Yea, its odd. I thought I remembered seeing a post about it before, but I spent an hour or so searching for it but could not find it.

I'm thinking it might be something goofy in the surrender logic - since normally there isn't a way to start in different systems with default maps. Does it always happen?

It seems to, I have not played all that many games though due to it - I can try it a few more times and see.

To start in different systems, all I really did was make a 2 player map with 2 stars, though it made it 4 players (2/star system apparently), and stuck the AI in the 4th team slot, and me in the first (Seems to work every time).

Though, it should be noted, I can't confirm they are in another star system, however after 30min to an hour of casually taking planets I did not find them (On 10 - 15 planets per system).

Also, something else I just remembered: On the map with the pirates, it *seemed* to happen right after I eliminated the pirate base (I queued my ships to destroy the defences, which was all that was left, and got a drink / some food, came back and the victory screen was up.). Though, I don't know if this means anything since it also does it on a map with no pirates at all.

edit: Could it have anything to do with the fact that the AI has no clear way to attack me, without researching?

edit: Actually, I did not. Ill have to do that (Forgot this game has replays).

edit...again: It seems it did not save any replays, ill have to play again and look for the replay option when / if it does it.

Good point about replays, maybe that'll shed a light on it :)

Yea, im starting up a game now to see what happens (On my custom map).

edit: It's possible pirates could have killed the AI on my generated map (2x star system one) - I had the neut colonies up about half way / 75%, plus the pirates were launching attacks on everyone it seems (Though, no replay was saved so I cant be sure).

Happened again, tried to watch the replay but the game crashed...

There were no pirates to kill them this time, though.

Edit: Alright, im going to try on a map where the AI can actually get to me without having to research something (Wormholes / Star systems).

Edit: alright, I tried it on a 10 player map with all hard AI and me, and it happened again late game. Will the AI surrender if the AI "feels" it can't / won't win?

Bump...
still having the problem, anyone else have any ideas?

Edit: Well... I have found the problem...

5) AI will surrender if situation is hopeless rather than drag the game out.

With my mod im working on (Not for release, just getting used to modding it, and it was all I could think of to do for now), I have a ton of ships and the AI would most likely not win.

Now to find out how to deactivate that...
