A new thought about the Black Market - it might work

Take a look!

I had an idea today about the black market, and I think it's a compromise to people in their arguments.

As it stands, the Black market has infinate resources, and they can be purchased relatively cheaply, if the market hasn't boomed. As it was before, the price went up by a certin amount each time you bought it, and it lowered slowly, or when you sold.

Both good, but people complained about 1) early game buying and 2) credits becoming the main resource

I propose this: A new system where not only the amount you can buy is based off of player income, but the price as well.

The idea is that, while the battle in this sector is just beginning, the black market has many other clients, and ones that are bigger/need more res. So, I think the black market should let you buy more and more res as the game goes on, based on player income.

So if Player A, B, C and D make (for the sake of argument) 50 metal per second, the Black market would only be able to sell 1000 (once again, random number, no real math) units of metal based on that 50 per second, and it would replenish it's stock every so often. If that 50 grew to say, 75, the number would go up to maybe 2000, or whatever, because the empires need more. The price would also be jacked up due to the fact that your galaxy now has more income, so the price would rise slowly. I also think this should be implimented per player, so one person can't max the market.

This also means that early game, people can't buy a lot of crystal and win because of it, because everybody has the ability to buy the same amount of crystal at the same price,  but credits don't become the base of the game because the market keeps up with your galaxies income.

So, comments?

Double post, my bad. Dang lag :(

EDIT: Oh come on now. People complain 24\7 about this stuff, but no comments to improve it? Tsk tsk.

Just like in the real world..... Most buyers of items want things badly they will pay the price for the limitless amount of supplies of whatever it is.

I been looking for the blackmarket file in the game to try do my own testing to balance the system better. The 1.03 version has a good idea behind it overall concept wise cept that buying and selling into the market barely puts a gash in the price now. (I even sold 60k of each) with crashes being too frequent

Eh, the gash isn't to big, it goes down after about half a minute, if that.

Also, things in IRL aren't infinate, not at all.

End of quote

Even if the market has boomed, the price is rarely beyond what someone would willingly pay if they really needed crystal or metal. I've never seen it go above the 550 range and at any given point in the game, credit income is likely to be at 'least' 5-10x the rate of metal or crystal.

Honestly, I think the way the system works is fine. I just think that the prices need to be tweaked so that they react a bit more harshly in both directions meaning, you'll have a decent chance of selling 100 crystal/metal for more than 100 bloody credits at any given time and so it was harder to simply pile on 2000 cystal/metal before the boom kicked in.

I did my own testing on the black market with about 500,000 credits.

I bought as much crystal as possible clicking the button as fast as possible. The highest price I saw? 574 credits per 100 crystal.

Seriously, when the price reaches the upper 500's it drops so fast that clicking on it constantly can't raise it. Why is this set up like this?

Well I honestly believe old black market system was just fine and the only thing needed was is a price freeze for first minute. It was imho balanced enough so races with excess credits(TEC) and those with surplus resources(Vassari) could use it . any changes require carefull re balance which Ironclad proved to be unable to do (as witnessed in 1.03 patch).

there market works fine in the mods to it i made in https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/304141/page/3

:p
More improvements could be made (like a jumping if someone buys too much at once) but how it is there is fine really. Was just simple mods.
