AI missions when you start with an ally

I'm making my way through the medium sized maps and some of the levels have you starting with an ally.  When he requests you do a mission for him it's normally to destroy 15!!!!!! ships of an enemy whih is just a tad hard to do within the first 15/20 minutes unless you can easily pick off some of the scout ships which are very quick.


I mean 15!
