the whole issue was that the games code is designed to be read of a disk, not a chip. with the disk, there are general areas that the consol is programed to check and store in, but with a hard drive, the consol must sort the data of the drives memory and make sure everyting is sorted the right way before using stored data otherwise it wouldnt play. this problem is there because the disc has all its data well mapped out but the hardrive will just jam the info wherever there is space.
The alternative is your hardrive just hates you and makes you wait to play just to piss you off which is the more likely answer cause i can be a dick that way
