Ok so I am just throwing this idea out there because I am a Halo fanatic and I think that this game could easily incorporate the Halo universe into it. I am not a very good designer but I can provide support and more ideas. There are already two races that could easily be changed into the Humans and the Covenant( TEC and Advent). All we would have to do would be to change ships some and add  gauss guns to most TEC Cap ships. I know this might take a long time but if it means that we will finally have a Halo space combat game then it will be well worth it.

Ya, I love the hack battlenet Idea, that would be genius. But you can't have shields. That's ridiculous. UNSC don't and won't ever have shields. Maybe have like a level 6 upgrade for one of the capital ships to have a 10 second shield powerup that makes them invincible or whatever.

It seems like a lot of these newer ideas are hurting rather then helping.

Stick with old and true designs and damage output while putting a toll for those damages. SMAC = insta-kill on most covie ships, that WONT change. The cost of this however should match its killing power.

Thats just one example. Canadaman knows what im talking about, keep to the earlier bits of the thread if you want a more accurate and fun halo mod plz.

Seeing as I really, really don't have time to read 30 odd pages, how is this mod coming? I'd love to see it in action, as I personally love the original game, and like the second (Just please, please pretend Halo 3 didn't exist...)

Rather than a Capital Ship ability, a very high tier ability that grants UNSC Frigates and Destroyers a quick, weak period of shielding, with an insane amount of antimatter needed and an equally insane cool-down.

The SMACs will probably be instant kill, but only if they have to be researched and another static defense is thought up so you have something at the very beginning.

The statement that the UNSC wont ever have sheilds is not necessarily true the capture of ascendant justice by master cehuif linda and marine Survivors off of Halo granted acces to unlimited knowledge on covie sheild and plasama cannon technology to cortana and the UNSC Researchers so had the Alliance with the elites and the downfall of that last prophet therefore the covenant the development of UNSc sheild technology on ships.( not to mention master cheif has sheilds better than covenant elites do)

I like the idea of a high tier support cruiser. It could be very powerful and used in packs to infiltrate covenant space it would be like a space ship version of a spartan

I'd like to point out that Cortana didn't have much time to chat it up with the engineers of Earth about Covenant *coughFORERUNNERcough* technology. The Master Chief's shields were reversed engineered from captured Jackal shields. And, as stated in the novels, the Covenant don't "invent" their technology, they pilfer it from other civilizations, primarily the Forerunners. Besides, there's a vast different between given the information required for such complex defenses and weaponry and actually understanding and implementing them. It's like with the Stargate SG-1 series finale.

Sorry if I'm spoiling anything for anyone.

The Asgard gave the Tau'ri [Humanity] all of their technology in one convenient little computer [Ok so it wasn't little, but they did install it themselves]. And even with that, an interactive tutor, and the time, it would still, realistically, take decades to understand and implement such technological leaps and bounds.

Yeah... I loved Johnson... And killing Elites was always fun. you still can technicaly fight them, they just wont fight back...

I think I just crapped my pants after seeing that movie. Ok, some thoughts and opinions. Here's the dealio. I am going to make a little list with pictures showing all possible/feasible ships that could be used.


UNSC CAPITAL SHIPS:

1. UNSC Super Carrier. A 1.5km long Carrier deemed big enough to be called a capital ship. I would advise ignoring the super carrier, although it is a ship, they were hardly any, and to implement something like that is just weird.
Armaments: Archer Missiles. One normal Magnetic Accelerator Cannon. Carries multiple groups of Long and Shortsword Fighters/bombers.
Examples: Stalingrad

2. Marathon Class. 1.2 km long. The most reliable and most used capital ship of all. Similar to a battleship.
Armaments: 3 Heavy Magnetic Accelerator Cannons. Oversized Archer Missile pods. Many 50mm point defense (possibly anti-fighter or for taking out smaller targets). Multiple Shiva Nuclear Devices.
Examples: UNSC Leviathan.

3. Halycon Cruiser Class. 1.1 km long. Obsolete cruiser, replaced by the Marathon. The ones not scrapped are being outfitted with better armor and weapons. Not as popular/reliable and less used as the Marathon's.
Armaments: (Keep in mind these are the new weapon outfits, older ones were much less). 1 Heavy Magnetic Accelerator Cannon. 4 Shiva Nuclear Devices. Over 100 Archer Missile Pods. 40 50mm point defense guns. Also multiple compliments of longsword fighters.
Examples: Pillar of Autumn.

UNSC Frigates:

1. UNSC Destroyer. 485 meters (7 meters long than a regular frigate). Very similar to a frigate, but twice the armor. Many were produced, very efficient and were used to accompany Marathon Cruisers.
Armaments: 2 Normal Magnetic Accelerator Cannons. 3 Shiva Nuclear Devices. 26 Oversized Archer Missile Pods. 8 50mm point defense guns.
Examples: Glasgow Kiss

2. UNSC Frigate. 478 Meters long. Most built ship in the UNSC arsenal. Extremely reliable ship. Well rounded for multiple uses, including space combat and ground assaults.
Armaments: 1 regular Magnetic Accelerator Cannon. 1 Shiva Nuclear Device. 30 Archer missile pods. 8 Point defense guns. Multiple Longsword fighters.
Examples: Aegis Fate; Forward Unto Dawn.


3. UNSC Prowler. 162 Meters long. The most used type of stealth ship. Can easily be invisible as long as used low engine power and compromising speed. Mainly used to gather intelligence and observe.
Armaments: 14 Hornet Mines. 2 or more Pulse Lasers.
Examples: Point of No Return; Dusk

UNSC Misc ships:

1. Phoenix Class Colony Ship. Longer than 1500 meters. Primary UNSC ship used to colonize uncolonized planets. Very large ship.
Armaments: 1 regular Magnetic Accelerator Cannon. Multiple Archer Missile pods. Multiple 50mm point defense guns. 1 Shiva Nuclear Device.
Examples: Spirit of Fire.

2. UNSC Mobile Repair Station.(AKA Cradle). Length Unknown. (BIG). A refit and repair station that was capable of traveling System to System. Was used to block a covenant volley in the Battle of Sigma Octanus IV.
Armaments: Unknown. Most likely none.
Examples: Cradle

And theres the UNSC categories. Keep in mind I left out multiple ships that I deemed useless/hard to fit into the SINS unique gameplay. My opinion on how the UNSC ships should work. The normal attack is a MAC cannon fired every 5-10 seconds depending on ship. One of the special abilities is a Archer Missile volley which has a low antimatter and recharge time. Another special ability would be the use of a Shiva Nuclear weapon, which would have a very high antimatter and recharge time. The 50mm guns would always be active, attacking fighters, but would be very weak. Possibly another special ability is a quick volley of MAC shells using average antimatter and recharge time.
I also think that the cruiser category should be tossed out, and just stick with frigates. I also, really think that we need to toss out all ideas of any type of UNSC ships having shields (come on guys, I mean really). And we really need to keep things less complicated and keep stuff simple.
Now onto the Covenant.

Covenant Capital ships:

1. CCS Battlecruiser. 1700 meters long. The most common capital ship employed in their navy. Very well known, and very strong.
Armaments: Standard fitting of Multiple Plasma Torpedo launchers and Multiple Pulse Lasers.

2. Reverence Class Cruiser. 3000 meters long. Extremely powerful capital ship, not widely used.
Armaments: Standard fitting of Multiple Plasma Torpedo launchers and Multiple Pulse Lasers.
3. Covenant Battleship. 2000 meters long. Almost as commonly used as the CCS class. Very well known also.
Armaments: Standard fitting of Multiple Plasma Torpedo launchers and Multiple Pulse Lasers.
4. Covenant Carrier. 1455 meters long. Large Carrier, employs hundreds of Seraph fighters. Not very common. Also used to direct smaller ships.
Armaments: Standard fitting of Multiple Plasma Torpedo launchers and Multiple Pulse Lasers. Also contains over 100 Seraph fighters.

Covenant Frigates/Smaller class ships:

1. Covenant Frigate. 1000 meters long. The most common ship in the Covenant arsenal. Very well known ships and used as cannon fodder.
Armaments: Standard fitting of Multiple Plasma Torpedo launchers and Multiple Pulse Lasers.
2. Covenant Cruiser. 1000-1200 meters long. Usually paired with a CCS class, these ships are bigger than a frigate. Not as widely known.
Armaments: Standard fitting of Multiple Plasma Torpedo launchers and Multiple Pulse Lasers. Possible Seraph fighters on board.
3. Stealth Corvette. Less than 485 meters. Ships built in very small numbers. Very small, similar to a prowler.
Armaments: Unknown. Minimal.
4. Agricultural Support Ship (could be used as colonizer). Unknown length, most likely small. Used to feed elites and prophets.
Armaments: None.


Well there it is. Now heres my ideas on covenant weapons. Basically, every ship shoots plasma torpedoes every 5-10 seconds in barrages. A regular special ability with small cooldown and small antimatter usage is point lasers. Also possible fast barrage special ability for plasma torpedoes. Now, I also think that all the other covenant ship classes that some of you know should be tossed out. Since almost none of them have any known pictures, its impossible to do anything with them. And to end the debates, make the Covenant have powerful shields but sucky armor. Also, make their planet to planet jumps faster. Alright, well that's all I have to offer. I might make another one of these but with buildings and space stations. Enjoy. Also somebody should stick this at the top of the thread or w/e but its up to you. Also you guys probably already figured this out, but any ship without a pic doesn't have one. And here's a little chart showing scale.

The UNSC Destroyer is the Iroquois (that's what Commander Keyes flew at the First Battle of Sigma Octanus where he demonstrated the Keyes Loop). And the Point of No Return is actually a stealth-coated destroyer, not a Prowler. It acts as ONI's unofficial headquarters for the really, really black ops, like the SPARTAN-III program.

Hey When MC had planted a bomb on the main ship to attack earth. the Admiral and another guy drew the enemy forces towards the main ship so tht it can get destroyed..
Plus Captain Keys rammed his ship into a stealth ship...

Hey i think the "point of no return should b included in the fleet coz it wud b gr8 as a special ship like one of a kind... it cud hav a nova bomb tht cud b launched at enemy plantets within is own gravity field destroying in a small radius around the planet and reducing the plantets health....

Hey someone said bout UNSC having shields and plasma turrets.. but i think tht plasma turrets r over the top... but shields as a weak version of covenants as a last tech upgrade wud b good coz near the end scientists research wasnt tht far behind the covenants...
and i think tht Repair structures shud b movable like in the stories moving around orbit to orbit.. to provide support...

That was acting as bait, not being a suicide bomber. There's a difference, I just don't really know what.

And when Keyes rammed the stealth ship, it was like taking a battleship and ramming a frigate in today's navy. Yeah, the battleship will get hurt, but not much, and the frigate is obliterated. So kamikaze? Definitely not.

I have noticed a difference between some Frigates. The back of the Frigate where the engine is is sometimes different

This is obviously In Amber Clad. You will notice that its engines are blocky.

This is Aegis Fate above the multiplayer level, Sandtrap. Its engines stick out at the sides as you can see from this picture.

The Frigate with the sides sticking out will be the normal Frigate, emphasizing speed and manueveralbility rather than having the extra weapons. The blocky-backed Frigate will be the Heavy Frigate which will give up speed for extra Archer Missile Pods and auto-cannons. They both will have the same MAC though, and no extra armor. The Destroyer will be the whole schebang with extra armor, archer missile pods, auto-cannons, and an extra MAC. The Destroyer should only be a little bit slower than the Heavy Frigate.

Actually if you read the books there were many destroyers as the Iroquois being one of them.

And here's the deal guys. I know there are tons of other ships that are usable, but most of them we have no info on, and if we do they just don't fit in. Lets stick with the most sensible kind. And maybe we can make the point of no return be like the highest upgrade you can get, and it allows you to use its Nova Bomb. Just thinking.

maybe there wasnt shields on the UNSC ships but dont tell me that humans were unable to develop them or could reverse engeneer them from covnent ships in 30 yeasrs of fighting
i think it would be a good ideea to have a high level research were the unsc gets some minimal shileding

Not on the UNSC ships, however, have you ever played Halo? The Chief does have shields because they have reverse-engineered them. However, no UNSC ship has shields, even though they have a lot more reactor power than a suit of Mjolnir. Why? Chalk it up to another one of Halo's mysterious plot/logic holes.


I swear the story of Halo is a lot like Halo. One ring with a giant hole in the middle where everything that should be there isn't.

There is no difference coz Kamikaze is not crashing ur ship into an enemy it used to describe any suicide attack.. so acting as bait knowing ull die is a Kamikaze run....
In the book captain keys ship had takein heavy damage most of the hull had breaches all lower decks were wide open.. he was not sure tht the ship wud survive....
I thought the addition of a Martyrdom upgrade wud b good coz on one of ebooks an elite said "A species is most vicious when they r close to extinction" well not exactly but almost those same words....
Hey it doesnt seem tht the covenants Hull design was as good as UNSC coz alot of time ull see tht just aftr the sheilds r gone the hull burns like paper especially by their own weapons... U can hav a kamikaze option but there will b a chance for survival if the covenants sheilds r down and the hull is damaged...

The reason the Covenant hulls are bad like that is due to the fact that they are near organic and if the shields hold, their is no reason the hull should be there. Its just there to seperate the Covenant from space. If the UNSC developed a kind of incendary round, they could tear through Covenant hulls easily.
