A belated big hello to the SINS Modder & Player community out here! Sorry to not introduce myself earlier but you know how it is once you get hooked on SINS....
Two new Mods available for download & as the post subject suggests they are indeed
- Pop Idol achievement fix
- Fast Ultimate weapon shells
They have been tested on v1.0 but are based on the GameInfo section of the SINS mod package available for download so mod compatibility is guaranteed insofar as that package is compatible with your version.
Incorporation of these Mods into other Mods may be done unasked although a "credit" is much appreciated.
These 2 are a small part of my Mod efforts over the last weeks and maybe I will publish some more. Much depends on how much is already avalailable from the rest of you and/or the demand for such a Mod.
My other (unpublished) Mods include:1. - Significantly faster Cap ships. Mass in space is only a factor in acceleration and not so much top speed so top speed for the Caps is not so different from Frigs but they just accelerate/brake slower. Turn rate untouched.
2. - Faster fighters/bombers. Fighters/Bombers have their movement stats tripled. The result had a more realistic Look & Feel.
3. - Almost all non ability-unlocker research has had levels added -in most cases doubled. (Exceptions include the slot-increasing research.) This makes research an even more important factor in the game. The result may not be to everyones taste; Victory through techno-overkill will occur more often and earlier in the game.
4. - Most Tactical structures have their slot cost halved to make for less vulnerable planets. In Vanilla version I found that a fully developed planet with all slots filled was still MUCH too vulnerable against a mid-sized fleet of some crummy Frigs. Now you will actually NEED Cap ships to siege & take a planet.
5. - Planetary defences have their weapon stats & range beefed up roughly 50%. Same reason as #4.
6. - Max Cap ship limit up to 80. Erm....so I like Cap ships. Not that I ever NEEDED to build that many but I COULD if I WANTED. That's what this Mod is about.
7 - Max Ship limit up to 4000. No, 80*50=4000 is not a coincidence.
8 - In "Fast" games research speed has been doubled. No use playing Fast if it's only half-way Fast...
9 - "CeaseFire" and "PhaseOutHull" buff abilities have "Invulnerable" status removed. Thusfar I have found NO practical advantage WHATSOEVER of inflicting "Invulnerable" status (even combined with completely immobilizing/deactivating) on an enemy in favor of damaging/destroying them. Quite the contrary actually happens when more enemies flock in from the gravity well or other planets when you have been spending your precious antimatter on this utterly useless buff. 'Nuff said.
10 - AutoExplore ability for Scouts "AutoCastOnByDefault TRUE". I Only use Scout frigs at the beginning of the game and for Scouting purposes only. Let them get on with it without me telling them to.
Any comments or requests welcome -whether good or bad, but I have not made any of these Mods with the aim of either pleasing or convincing others of their validity. They made the game more enjoyable for me and if they could do that for you too then that's just great. If not....then I recommend not using them.
