[Idea]Underpowered Turrets

I think that the planetary turrets are greatly underpowered, I place say.... 15 fully researched turrets around a planet with a repair station, a fleet of about 10 enemy Frigates (no cruisers or capital ships) can take my turrets out easily, the only thing they seem to be good for is buying time till my fleet arrives, I now build hanger defenses because they are allot more effective, I think the turrets need improvement, does anyone else think this is an issue or is it just me? :P

Yes that is one of the problems, and the only place that a turret line work, is on pirate attacks

Which is precisely what they're supposed to be good for.

I wouldn't argue against improvements but as has been said a million times around this forum, they aren't supposed to be single-handedly stopping fleets. They exist to buy you time.

Plus, unless we're talking about LRM frigates that were staying out of range and not getting shot at all, 10 frigates shouldn't have a chance against 15 turrets.

Yeah u know what you are talking about. I never had a situation where 2 repair stations and 3 turrets changed the course of a battle. That is almost impossible!

That's exactly what turrets are for, buying you some time and anti-siege until your fleet arrives.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I wouldn't mind them getting +35% range -25% damage, though, so you can cover more area and stack them more, and them reach further out to the gravwell. But that's more a rebalance.

I have not played with pirates on yet so I didn't realize that :P, well I'm happy with hanger defense, much more powerful and their range encompasses the entire gravity well. :D

I just wish they'd add an option to add more defenses for those of us that would like them. Maybe a technical slot capacity slider you set at the beginning of the game or something.

While I tend to go for hanger bays when it comes to defending my planets. I believe the turrets are still underpowered. While the defenses are designed to buy time before a your fleet can get there it would be nice to the turrets firepower significantly increased so planets can be better equipped to take care of themselves.

I just don't really see what's insufficient about having repairs, PJI's, turrets, hangers, and a special racial one (ie AM recharge).

Just let us spam them right on the phase lanes right where the enemy fleet arrives.

That's exactly what I have always thought Innov: Much greater range, even at the cost of less damage. Except vs the AI, turrets are just plain useless; If you group them together, humans just go "around them". If you spread them out to cover the entire planet, they are just useless peashooters. What I would'nt give for someone to move a scout into my planet, see I have about 10 turrets there, and rethink attacking me.

I don't want them to be able to take out an invading fleet, just be able to "reach" an invading fleet would be something at least. Turrets are my favorite space weapon (I use to love watching the turrets on the Battlestar Galactica take out those cylon fighters), but in Sins, they could really use some space-viagra. . .

Yeah against players they go around, which is why better range would be nice at the cost of damage. Plus players can easily sit outside of the grav well.

But they do great damage really, and have really high hp, and all for their cost. It's just the range.

But if range was increased without a damage reduction, they'd be overpowered with how you could stack them.

Agreed, with longer range, you could literally have 15 turrets focus fire unless you lowered the damage. If the tech ugrade increaced range as well as damage, or just the range "instead" of damage, that would be something. Even the range increat the TEC gets for their turrets seems to make little difference. . .

The turret range tech for tec costs too much.
