Windows Visual C++ Runtime Library (ERROR, CRASHES GAME)

These last two days I've been getting a Runtime Error (See Title) that crashes my games. GOD! This is so frustrating!!!! First I had the Display Driver Crashes, then Minidumps, now this!!! What the hell is wrong with this game? I play everything fine on my PC except this game. I NEVER experienced such problems with a game before. I mean... I was right in the middle of an Epic battle just 5 minutes ago but the freaking game crashed! I think that it is urgent that the devs concentrate on augmenting the technical integrity of this game, not a damn Demo!

Error Message:

Title: Windows Visual C++ Runtime Library

Description: Runtime Error!

Program: ... Games/Sins of a Solar Empire/Sins of a Solar Empire.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application's support team for more information.

i dont think it is software issue,i have been playing on a 2 year old system, and have played mp and single, even a couple 8 hour games with a friend..have never had a single crash of any kind..the game seems to be well made and stable..sorry you are having trouble though..is your direct x all updated,etc..?
could your pc be getting too warm?..
i wish you luck in resolving the issue...

This happens in MP games, and how do I update my Direct X??

What the Hell's up with the lined text???

There is a known issue with MP regarding desync errors. My advice is to disable bloom, apply the Vista patch if you're running Vista, and hope for the best.

Oh, and I fixed the line thing :p

Yeah... WTF was up with that lined texted thing? Anyways, I've had Bloom off and the Vista patches for a long time... What is Mattress talking about updating Direct X? How do I do that?

You don't really "update directx" like he's talking about - every game since, I dunno, 2005 has had DX9.0c with it, so you have it.

You might try updating your drivers though.

I am having the same problem also. My system is running Vista 64 and everything is up to date. Also system is running at 30 degrees C.

SP runtime crash issue as well, about 1.5 hours into a game. Vista 64 ultimate. I also have the game installed on an XP x64 and it does not have this crashing issue. As the original poster stated, fully updated with patches, dx, etc.

I have Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium.

BUMP!!! If any devs are reading this, help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately just getting the error doesn't give much info. I suggest running dxdiag and emailing its results along with the description of the error and when/how it happens to [email protected]

On another note, to exhaust what's been suggested already: did you try a reinstall? Runtime errors are typically the result of some files being messed up, it's possible that yours got corrupted somehow. Also, are you running a mod?

Try reinstalling/making sure no mods are running before emailing support, though.

See also WWW Link for other Vista related discussion and see if turning down graphics settings/installing that Windows Update does anything.

Well... can the support team help me or what?

I get this error too, and there does not seem to be anyone out there that can help. I'm running Vista Ultimate, 4gigs Ram, Nvidia 728mb card and still it craps out after 1-2 hours. I'm playing ... then it makes a sound and no more game. A msgbox indicating the run time error appears. Total bummer. Let me know if you find out anything. I'm going to try this in Windowed mode.

Does a minidump get generated when this happens?  If so, please zip it up along with your most recent save game and send it to [email protected].  Please include a dxdiag report for your system as well along with a description of the problem.  Unfortunately we've never seen this happen internally, so it's impossible for us to fix until we do.

Make sure you try the new Nvidia beta drivers as well, a lot of folks are reporting it fixes various crashing issues.

No it does not generate Mini Dumps. I have the latest drivers and all.
