The Mighty Magog Kruelgor And How He Ran Away

Hello all-

Just an introduction. I read the forums regularly, and really do enjoy all the work and insight you people put into this game. While I don't always agree with some of you, I do respect those of you who put forth ideas/strategies/concepts and such and then bother to actually test them and post replays so the rest of us can watch (in particular HuntingX and innociv). However, while I do take into consideration what you all do, I also like to experiment on my own, and so from time to time I'll be on ICO trying out a completely whacky combo just for kicks. That is the lead in to the beef of the story.

This past night, I was sitting in the lobby of ICO when lo and behold, I see the name Magog Kruelgor. Something clicks. THIS was the guy who said he would counter LRM spam with Disciples, who has a 'secret weapon'. So, in the lobby, on public chat, I call him out. I challenge him- me, whose profile has a smallish number of games with a few losses and a few more wins. There are several people in the forum who perk up and go, 'Oh, he's THAT guy?' I wait for a response......

....And get none. He proceeds to sign out. Yet I seem to recall him promising to have replays posted by the end of the weekend of him winning. So I am confused. Why he would ignore a blatant gauntlet being thrown from a lowly amateur like myself, I know not. I can only hope that instead, he waits and plays one of you all, like HuntingX or JinxOfSin or innociv or any of you others who have tried to disprove his theories, for the good of everyone playing- becausae I know personally how hard it is to be stuck with a teammate who will spam Disciples because 'he read it on the forums' and I just know that soon it will be a 2 vs 1. *sigh*

Kruelgor, I would have thought you had more balls than that. I'm dissappointed. I really don't mind if you put forth a theory that is wrong- I mind when you don't have the decency to back it up. To the rest of you all gunning for him,

Good hunting.

maybe he was just AFK, you know, along with the rest of the 200+ that sit in the lobby while relatively few games go on

thanks for the flamebait thread though.

I would normally have assumed that, Carbon, save for the fact that he logged into two games that were forming, decided that he didn't want to play in them, and jumped out again. That usually takes someone behind the keyboard, to all of my knowledge.....:)

Edit: I also have no intention of making this a flamebait- I only want to point out to those who obviously read his strategies and consider them so bang-up awesome that as of yet, he has shown no valid reasons to use them- contrary to others on the forums.

Prea, he's a troll. He goes around trying to start flame wars (no matter how 'clever' he tries to make it) about how to counter things but doesn't back up his information.

Thus, scouts are greater counters against capitals. I will show this tactic being used in a day or so. If anyone is willing to try and defeat my strategy, meet me online.

Don't feed the trolls ;)
The only thing that really saddens me about the whole thing is that due to a lack of forum-reading by Frogboy, one of Kruelgors topics even made it to sticky status in the strategy section. Yes, it's his least stupid topic (actually it's even somehow remotely useful, but still way inferior to others overview topics) but feeding the trolls is always bad. That gives the troll even some credibility and is a very serious wrong sign to all people interested in having real advice and not faulty misinformation in this forum.

With that in mind: I found a new secret tactic to overcome flak with strike craft. It's secret so I won't post replays but you can play me online and I will win every game. I never lost a game using this strategy and I probably never will. Meet me online for proof.

Oh, OK, thanks for the clarification. As much as I find his "strategies" silly, doesn't hurt to give him the benefit of the doubt in this case.

Of course, this could be because I did find his strategy of beating siege frigate spam with massed refinery ships very useful.

Oh yeah, you gotta make your refinery ships tank damage from the siege frigates. The chart says it won't do any damage or something and I have beat ninety four players with it, so we know it's true.

He just forgot to use the ol' [sarcasm][/sarcasm] tags.

I'm working on taking out planets by building trade ports on systems directly opposite the planet. I'm hoping they'll crash into the planet and destroy it faster than my seige ships and not use crew points too!

On topic, calling him out for what could be a coincidence is not very cool. Sure it looks suspicious but that doesn't mean anything.

Those guys are all the same.

You should've seen the trouble I went through to get innociv to play me.

Ahh good ole Kruelgor stirring up trouble in these forums just like he did in WIC. I personally dont think he is a bad guy, very arrogant but he has a great sense of humor :)

And then, if you ever succeeded in playing against him, what happened ?
