Sins Freezing with Sound :(

hey guys just installed sins on my core2extreme and GTX 8800 Sli card setup and everything went great with installation went into the game played around with settings then i went into the first tutorial and a min or so later the game would just freeze with sound still play in the backround studdering a bit but still goin. I cant do anything so slove it either other than a reboot it would usually happent when i would click on the ''ok'' tabs on the screen to move to the next part of the tutorial. But then i would pop in Sup commander and the game runs great for hours same with C&C3 all setting set on high both games arent much older than sins. So that tells me that it cant be a foulty hardware issue or overheating. Ive tried a few suggestions one would be to turn off bloom and the other to turn all the settings to low and see wat happens well same thing :(.. It really stinks i absolutely love strategy games and dis one just looks crazy so its frustrating not being able to get into it. PLZ help btw all my drivers on all parts are up to date i have even tried to beta invidia drivers and still the same thing. I ran 3Dmark and passed with a kickin score.

Vitaliy87,

I've got the same issue on Vista64. The only thing that has helped is to turn down all the Effect settings to High instead of Highest and turn off Bloom. Depending on who replies, they'll tell you to load some very old drivers or that this is an Nvidia video driver issue but I personally think it is a SoaSE issue. I am running the 169.44 beta drivers on both my Vista64 and XP32 OSes. I've tried almost every driver that Nvidia has released that support the 88xx video cards.
I run it on a dual boot of XP32 and it works perfectly on the Highest settings with Bloom enabled.
It could be a DX10/Nvidia driver issue but the fact that no other games I run have an issue would seem to point to the game. Oblivion runs fine at all the highest settings. Crysis runs as good as it can on all the highest settings. COD4 runs fine on all the highest settings.

I've got a Q6600 OC'd to 3.2Ghz and two 8800GTXs sli'd much as you do.

Good luck and let us know if turning down the Effects works for you.

I have the same problem as well. I meet well beyond the recommend requirements. Right now, I'm uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

An interesting note is that the freeze, for me anyway, is time based. It will freeze up after playing it for 5 minutes.
