Fewer resource asteroids?

In 1.3, it would appear that asteroids have 1/2 the number of (orbiting) asteroids, terran 2/3, volcanic and ice 3/4, and asteroid belts 1/4.

So uh, what? I mean, I understand that resources were pretty easy to get and that some tweaking was necessary, but this causes a HUGE change in SoaSE strategy and general mood. It feels more like scavenging than empire building when you colonize some rock with one metal and crystal asteroid surrounding it. The Vasari neutral-grabbing strategy is out the window. Early civil labs for colonozation research become almost a neccessity rather than a booming strategy. The game just loses a lot of its epic feel. I like a lot of the changes introduced in 1.3, and it'd be a shame to revert to 1.2 for LAN games because of this.

1.3 does have a few problems and disappointments, but I am eager for the next update nontheless. Ironclad and the SoaSE team are doing a fantastic job with tender caring of their game.  :CONGRAT:

you probably played on high resources maps only i see because there have been no changes in the number of asteroids the only change is that instead of adding more asteroids on high resources the income rate per asteroid increases so you don't get any less resources than in 1.02 the only difference is that you have to pay less

umm... No.

In 1.2 there was an option to turn on high resources (gave every planet 4 resource asteroids), as opposed to 2. That option has since been removed, and replaced by the lackluster fast income. Fast income is a joke compared to the high resources, and games take nearly twice as long. Considering a 36-40 planet map used to take 2 or 3 hours, but now takes 4 or 5 because the resource production is so slow. Why on earth would you take a slow paced game and make it even slower? It just doesn't make any sense.

The opening part of the game is already mind numbingly boring as you sit there for 10 minutes waiting for your credits/crystal to go up... there was no reason to make it take longer. But that's what the devs did.

The income from a resource astroid on normal is .46 a second, the income from a resource astroid on fast is .52, so a .06 a second increase. As apposed to another astroid at .46 income.

So...

1.02: High resources ment .46 more income.
1.03: Fast income means .06 more income.
