Hmmm, must dl the demo and see if this works in reverse.

Would explain the problems people are having when installing the demo.

Hmm you (OP) pretty much has the exact system as me except for 2 GB's of ram and a different asus motherboard,I didnt have any trouble with the install but then again i beta tested and downloaded it the second it was released.


It was probably just a file that was missing that the demo replaced.

Uninstalling the demo does work, however it will also work if you choose the "only install for this user" option when installing.

I really think the install program (and for that matter, other parts of the game) isn't very robust. Some people have no problem installing/running it and therefore assume it is all "the user's fault," but it seems that a lot of people are having issues.

I'm not sure what install errors other people are getting...I initially had an MSXML error with tryinig to install the game from a retail DVD. That went away after adding some windows updates for XP and I started getting the "Fatal Errors" instead. I mentioned that I got around those by copying the DVD files to the computer and then installing. This may not be a fix if you donwloaded the game, but it helped me out.

Good pickup on the demo. removal though!

Try getting Impulse from impulsedriven.com, registering your game in Impulse, then download and installing it through Impulse.

The same error with both the disc and Impulse? What error is it giving you?

You need to actually uninstall the demo, not simply delete its files (the registry entries are the issue).
