Gameplay Question

Ok this is probably a pretty nub question and it may have already been posted about, but i couldnt find anything that answered this for me.  I was wondering how exactly do you get to another star system.  Ive been playing on a map with 4 star systems, each of them have their own planets.  How do i get to those systems?  My enemies are reaching mine without any problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to research the correct research topic for your faction then travel to the star and you can jump to any other star in the galaxy.

You need to research "Long Range Jumps" which is a non-combat technology so you'll need some (3?) civil research stations. Once it's done just right click on the star you want to jump to. So you know, your ships jump from star to star so they'll have to make their way to the local system's star...which can take a fair bit of time.

Some maps also have wormholes connecting systems, but these too require some research before you can use them.

Side note: the resaerch is always on the civic side of things, not the military side.
