I have already submitted a trouble ticket to Stardock, but I wanted to bring this to the attention of the Ironclad folks here.
Yesterday, I created an account on Ironclad Online. I created an arbitrary username for may account but didn't write it down. The reason I didn't write it down is because I'm accustomed to my browser remembering usernames and passwords and I'm used to my games (Company of Heroes, Relic Online for example) remembering my login information and having a safeguard in place in case I forget.
Unfortunately, Ironclad Online has neither of these.
When I created my account yesterday, I anticipated playing a game online today with a couple friends who live nearby. When I created it, I ticked the "Save Account Name" box, because I knew I would have trouble remembering. When I tried to log in today to play, needless to say, none of my account information was in the text fields. I couldn't remember my name and could not delete the account or recreate it. In addition, there is NO means of recovering a lost account name (or password for that matter) built into Ironclad Online.
This primitive system left me slightly frustrated - not completely because I can still have a ball playing Company of Heroes on Relic Online - but also stratching my head because I can't imagine why there would be no means of recovering a lost username aside from emailing support!
I'm not looking for advice, so please save the "RITE IT DOWN U NOOB" comments. I just want Ironclad to be aware that this can be a bit of an annoyance, and something they can easily fix in a patch by simply tying the login to the forums login, or asking for an email address in the ICO account registration, which would allow for a username retrieval process.
Thanks for listening.
