Game Stalls and Crashes

Hi. I am running Sins in Vista x64 (Business Edition), using dual nVidia Series 8's in SLI (GTXes). My CPU is a Core 2 Extreme QX6700, and I've got 4 gigs of 1066 Corsair RAM back-clocked to 800 MHz. I am having a horrible time with the game crashing like crazy. It usually doesn't happen until things get rolling really well, when I've got battles going on in 2 or more systems. Then, the sound stutters and the game refuses to respond to commands. I am almost always forced to eventually do a hard reset to force the game and the OS to shut down, then restart the system. This, of course, always results in losing a lot of game play and it is quite annoying. Also, although I have some of the best, latest hardware available, the cinematics are choppy and sluggish. Other than these issues, Sins is an awesome game, it might be the best one I have right now, except maybe for Crysis, which isn't without its share of problems, too, but it doesn't crash like this- I can't think of anything that's more of a buzzkill than a game that crashes just when it's going good. HELP !! Courtney

Ok theres 2 roads your problem could go down

1. Is that your problem is easily fixable by downloading 1 or both of these and it maybe will fix your problem

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=940105

2.You have a problem that many ppl have reported and theres a dedicated thread to it sticky'd in this forum.

Wes,

That update is already installed on my system. I don't know if I installed it stand-alone or if it came with SP 1 (if that even matters).

Any other suggestions? Thanx
GG

Have you tried disabling SLI and running it on a single card? It's not graphics intensive enough that it should choke it like that, I run it on a similar system (though Vista 32 and 2gb RAM) on a single 8800gtx with no issues, and without Vista SP1.

Might want to try annatars suggestion.

I have a couple further ideas that i'll post later.

Are you having this problem with any other game ? if you are it could be one of your GB's of memory has gone bad.

Crashing does not indicate memory failure. Memory failure would cause BSOD STOP errors.

Yes I know i have gone through things myself.I've seen tho a BSOD start 10 minutes or more after it hang crashes and it turned out in that in that instance that it was a memory failure.

If its not any of these its a safe bet its the vista hang everyone else has been having. That yet again nvidia has failed to fix (they've try'd every driver pack since vista came out and havent fixed it).If it turns out that thats the problem a suggestion would to either play it on a different come entirely or dig up a XP install disc and install XP and hope that it doesnt start on it.
