Of Phase lanes and dead ends.
It's a little too convenient that phase lanes ALWAYS start at an object and ALWAYS end at one...

Hmm.
I suppose I understand phase lanes leading from one planet to another, thorough searching would uncover that soon enough. But how do we know what on the other end of the phase lane, and why does there have to be something there?
And why on earth are there phase lanes leading to space junk and similar!
Goodness.
It would add a little realistic caution to the game if phaselanes did not display what was at the other end, (if anything) only showing that there is, in fact, a potential phase lane, here. Thus, flying big, impressive fleets of ships into unexplored phase lanes would result in big, impressive wrecks if the phase lane led to nowhere, or better yet, the inside of a star? Who says phase lanes can only go (unfailingly) from the edge of one planet to the edge of another?
It's as if the ships cut themselves a path to their desired destination. Unfortunately, the player does not have that advantage. Shouldn't players be able to cut a new phase lane? It would take much time, perhaps, and maybe a special ship, but it should be possible! An idea for you intrepid modders out there.
I can't see any other way for phase lanes to reach asteroid belts and space junk, of all things. Man made! Or, as I should say, Creature made! I'm pretty sure the owners of that junk (before it became bona fide "junk") didn't sit down and say, Hmm, this is a nice spot to put a lot of crap floating in space! Its right at the end of a phase lane, too! Let's do it!
Mmm, no. I don't think so.
Any thoughts?
