Maximum Fleet Capacity?

Hi,

new to the game.  i really enjoy playing large maps (5 stars, 250-300 planets), but is there any way (hack, patch, update) to increase the total fleet supply past 1000? im sure for smaller maps its sufficient but for the larger ones it's simply not enough. it's like having a tablespoonful of butter for an entire loaf of bread!!! any help or information would be most appreciated!!! thanx, D

wow I can't imagine how you keep up controlling so many planets and ships at once.
but i'm sure you can change the maximum fleet capaciy by modding some files.
I just don't know which ones ;)

Technically the fleet cap is 2000. ;)

Anyways, 1.03 added low/high fleet cap options (1500 / 2500). To go above that check the mod forums, pretty sure there's one up, though might not be updated for 1.03 yet.

I wouldn't mind an Unlimited Fleet Capacity mod. That way if your economy is booming, your fleet can boom in size too, but perhaps that would muck up some aspects of the game's strategy. After all, it's not a stalemate if both you and your enemy each have 2000 supply points (or 2300 for the Vasari) worth of ships; eventually one of you won't be able to afford to replace the blown up ones anymore.

first, thanx everyone for your posts. after installing the latest update i was able to get my fleet capacity to 2000. this is better but...........

i dont know, maybe i should just play smaller maps but i really enjoy the larger ones. i am definately agree with Carbon016, an unlimited fleet capacity option would be a huge benefit for this game. the game boasts an unrivaled scale which is true, but that scale than should not be LIMITED by the overall number of ships a player can build, especially on a large map of 250-350 planets.

that's just my opinion  :)

I have to say that I like limited fleet capacity. Sure I would like more, but it would detract from the function of the game, it would simply become hide in a defended corner and build so many ships that you can never be attacked and then in one pass destroy everysingle other player in the game. NO planning, no risks, just mass throwing of ships at enemy's.

In warcraft 3 i think I first saw this, even if you kep building farms, you hit a maximum unit capacity, removing some of the build and toss with abandon part and start picking strategic targets and fortifications.

The 102 planet map I am playing is fun and I am nicely fortified in my 2 star systems with a fleet running harrassment on those that annoy me, however, when the game gets near the end, I'm going to have some fun management issues that I don't see as bad, just anouther challenge.

yeah that "hiding in the corner" idea might work. providing no one messes with you while trying and build this massive fleet. but where would you get all the resources? you would need many, many extractors to build a fleet of that magnitude in a reasonable amount of time, or else it would take you 10 hours or so with limited resources. and u would have to leave some of the fleet behind on conquered planets to defend or else someone else could phase jump past your fleet and take out the planets you just conquered. oh and by the way, on my map, even with artifact jump drive advantage, it would take a good 45 min to an hour to travel from one side of the map to the other (not using wormholes). yeah that hiding idea sounds good, but i dont really think it would work. that's just my opinion.   :)

xxVegetaxx: Yeah right, the hide-in-a-corner strategy rules (like O'Doyle)! You should play me sometime, I'd intimidate you, then make you never want to play the game again.
