Do i need to put Everything in?

Ok so basicly my question is-

When I make a mod do i need to put everything in (Game info, Mesh, Particle, Window) When Im just modding the game info folder?

The reason im asking is right now when ever i mod a bunch of data in the game info folder and try to load the mod up my game crashes and mini dumps on the enable mod screen. Why would this affect it is beyond me but Ive ran out of options and Im dieing trying to get my mods to work.

One more question... Is it possible to add "quests". I would like to add more quests to add more of a variety and importance to some and make other less important.

Ok short sweet and to the point. Thank you!

Well, before 1.03 you could. 1.03 only gave us the ability to only have the changed textures in the Textures folder, rather than the whole folder which was a whopping 1.07Gb. If you edit only the files in the GameInfo folder, then thats the only folder you need, and it has been that way since the tools were released. You edit a mesh, the whole folder has to go in.

Are you sure about that? If anything I've found the reverse.

I currently have a mod which changes mesh, textures, gameinfo, string. Right now it is stable with everything removed but its changes in mesh and textures. However, when I remove the Gameinfo things I didn't use, the game complains and crashes.

Or maybe you were talking about pre-1.03 - but you used present tense, so I'm confused :p

What? I think you misread. Ok;
GameInfo, Window, Mesh, String
If 1 file changed, Then all files need to be present. (never changed)

Textures
If 1 file changed, Then only that file needs to be present. (since 1.03) (pre-1.03, same as GameInfo)

All folders
If 0 files changed, Then folder doesn't need to be present.

At least thats my understanding of it :S

For Mesh files atleast you only need the ones you have changed, i run my mods like it.

and as no one else has mentioned it, changes to Particles requires all other files as well, atleast i think it does.

Good to know about the Meshes, they take up a fair bit of space in S+.

You could but i can really only think of one way to do it. You would have to alter the missions entity or create new ones as well as alter the times given and rewards but thats easy. Though seeing as you can only in effect be destorying ships, population, or defences of enemies im not sure what kind of quests you could have...
