There is a special tech that needs to be researched that will allow you to use wormholes. Once you have it you should be able to pass trough them.

pass through them? meaning... they are already on the battle map and you dont create them?

Yes. On maps where wormholes are available, there will be two or more wormhole zones that you can jump to. They're just separate uncolonizable zones much like gas clouds and whatnot (except, with no resources).

They won't be available on every map.

okay, heres the whole story on wormhole usage, inorder to use a wormhole you must first reaserch a wormhole tech, somewhere in the civilan tech for each race, when you reaserch it you can use the wormhole, inorder to use it you must tell your fleet to go to the center of it and they will be instanty transported to another wormhole in that solar system, i dont think they go to other star systems. But they are predtermained routs, they only go to one other wormhole and the other to it, they cant go to others

The plot thickens... thank you... now that i know how wormholes work, how do i warp to other stars? there is a map, where your star is not connected via the normal routs. i cant seem to figure out how to get to the other star... i dont see any wormholes or gates. is there any way to do this?

P.S. thank you all for clearing up the wormhole issue

Once you research the appropriate tech in the civilian branch, you'll be able to travel between stars (any star. They're all connected) as though there were phase lanes between them. You won't actually see a phase lane on the map but if you tell your units to travel to another star, they'll behave accordingly.

Send your fleet to the start, just like a normal move. Assuming there's a path to the current system's star they should find their way there.

Wormholes do indeed go to other star systems, sometimes. At least on random maps they do.

Is interstellar jumping not in the manual?

RTFM this is basic stuff, and it's in the manual or description of technologies you can research/
