Greetings all,
I like the achievments talk going, so keep it coming.
Also, for those of you interested, and in need of some good reading, here is the complete Atlantian storyline. Of course, I reserve the right to change things, but I am pretty solid about this story:
History of the Atlantians
The Beginning
Before the Age of Dinosaurs here on Earth, before the Earth fully formed about 100 million years ago there was sentient life in the Universe. Within a galaxy far from the Milky Way known only as the Ori Galaxy, sentient life thrived. The Ori Galaxy has been found to be one of the oldest in the Universe, and as such life started there much earlier than younger galaxies. Among the life in the Ori Galaxy, seven distinct forms of life developed sentient intelligence, and started on a path towards the stars. Among the first were the Atlantians, who seem to be the first humanoid life forms in the Universe. Atlantia, their home world, was an ocean covered planet within a double solar system (two stars with solar systems that orbited each other), with island continents that dotted the surface. They evolved under the oceans from sea life that became sentient. However, in order to evade enormous underwater predators, they quickly advanced and evolved under the extreme pressure of surviving. They built underwater cities, and thrived in the life underwater. Science was first and foremost, especially dealing with genetics. They finally cracked their own genetic code, and found that they could better themselves by making a few adjustments to future generations. The resulting generation was able to breathe the air on their planet, and was able to take advantage of the new real estate and the land to build on to further their research goals. However, a large population chose not to be genetically modified, and chose to remain below the oceans. The Atlantians hence developed into two distinct societies, but still one united peace loving race. They continued to work together for the advancement of their race as a whole, and swiftly developed starships and STL (slower-than-light) travel. The surface dwellers, who mostly lived on the largest continent of Orionis, were the first to explore into space and the heavens above. They were on a mission, to colonize a new planet that could allow their society to grow peacefully without the constraint of the small landmasses of Atlantia. Their ships however were slow with the STL drives, and going to another star system would have taken hundreds of years. So, with their ocean dwelling brethren, they worked on bending the fabric of space time, and discovered phase space. They were able to build a FTL (faster-than-light) drive now, and were able to push up into phase space to travel quickly to nearby star systems. As luck would have it, they discovered a rich life filled world in the partner star system as Atlantia. They decided that this planet was the best place to set down roots, as it was both the perfect environment and also next door to their home star system. They dubbed the new planet Orion, and called themselves the Orions hence forth. Orion was a lush plant filled world, with much more land mass than it had oceans, almost a polar opposite to Atlantia.
The Orions and Atlantians continued to work together as one race, and lived in harmony together while exploring the heavens for the next 3,000 years. The Atlantians and Orions both continued to evolve and discover new technology, and later developed psychic like powers, allowing them to not only work even closer together as one race, but also gave them unique, almost godlike abilities. Over time, the combined Atlantian race colonized other star systems, and came across many lesser life forms.
This is when a small difference in beliefs developed between the Aquatic Atlantians and the Orion Atlantians. The Orions now wanted to dabble in genetics, and experiment with lesser races genetic code, to see if they could become sentient. The Aquatic Atlantians did not agree, and suggested that they leave lesser races alone, and to not interfere. They believed that is was ok to modify themselves, but not other races. However, they would support whatever the Orion Atlantians decided to do. Hence, the Orions did in fact dabble in the genetic code of other lesser races, and actually created other sentient beings. Through thousands of years, these new races set off on their own with the help of their creators and found worlds of their own to colonize. The Orions eventually convinced the Aquatic Atlantians to also “help” life along, and the Atlantians created races of their own design as well, who also went off to explore and populate the galaxy.
The Atlantians and Orions kept in close contact with their “children”, but then some of them started to fall silent. Something had happened to them, and the Atlantians and Orions wanted to know what happened. They decided to set course for the home worlds of their lost children to find out what happened. Along the way, they came across another very advanced race known as the Precursors, apparently as old as the original Atlantian race. They were a huge cattle like race, similar to cows on Earth, but were covered in long hair like buffalo. They had huge starships too, and were apparently also a very friendly race whose goals were the advancement of not only their own race, but other fledgling races that just needed a little push to get going. They had also lost contact with their “children” races, and offered to form an alliance with the Atlantians and Orions. Together, the new Creator Alliance set off to get to the bottom of the mystery.
The combined fleet encountered a lone vessel that appeared heavily damaged. The ship itself looked crystalline and metallic in design, and seemed to glow with power still locked inside. The Precursors instantly recognized the ship as their friends, the Taalo. The Taalo are a silicon crystal based race, who seems to be almost as old as the Ori Galaxy itself, and have been allies with the Precursors for thousands of years and developed their civilization with them as allies. The Taalo on board the ship told the Creator Alliance that they have just escaped a great battle at one of their colonies, and that they were being overrun by an unknown enemy. The only details that they could give was that there seemed to be three distinct races involved in the invasion, but they are working together, or at least seem to be. Also, the Taalo told the Creator Alliance that some of the “children” races are also involved in the battle, all fighting the new invaders, but apparently losing the battle.
The small Taalo vessel joined the Creator Alliance fleet, and together set out to the Taalo colony. After dropping out of phase space, they encountered an epic battle taking place in orbit of the Taalo colony. The Creator Alliance were not prepared, as they had virtually no weapons, only defensive beam emitters to blast away asteroids that would hit their ships. Since they were all peace loving races, there was no need for offensive weapons. They soon started to incur heavy losses, and turned the fleet around to head back home to go back to Atlantia and Orion. A small fleet of Taalo ships joined them, and together they escaped as they witnessed the invasion fleet wipe out any remaining ships in their way as they proceeded to bomb the planet.
Once back in their own territories, the Atlantians and Orions began to quickly develop new weapons and ships, as the Precursors and remaining Taalo ships stood guard against invading forces. The Atlantians and Orions quickly modified their ships, and began to amass a fleet to counter the new invaders, and protect their children races. Together the new fleet of the Creator Alliance traveled back to the Taalo system, only to witness a burning rock of the once beautiful planet. They decided to press on system after system, all the while engaging in small battles that they won, yet the planet was destroyed beforehand. They still decided to press on for a number of years, until they came to planet of Antares, where they came face to face with a huge armada of the invading force. Battle ensued, but as the Creator Alliance fought bravely, victory was out of reach. Even with their advanced weapons of war, the Creator Alliance was beaten back. The remaining Taalo ships were badly damaged, and under the direction of the Precursors, were instructed to flee. The Precursors parted company also, to protect the fleeing Taalo. The Atlantians and Orions were left to fight for themselves. They were actually able to take down a great number of the enemy, but then something happened. Hailing channels were opened, and direct contact was made. The races they faced called themselves the TOC, the Triad of Creation. They believed that they were the oldest original races in the galaxy, and all others were insignificant. They explained that insignificant races are a waste of life, and that these races must be exterminated from the galaxy, allowing the creators to rule on high. Three distinct races were seen in the armada of the TOC. The Antarans, who had a demon-like appearance, seemed to be the most advanced of the species, and with the most sophisticated ships. The Lapis, who were a rock like race, claimed to be the essence of the Universe itself, and its protectors. Its mission was to remove all the threats to the Universe, which meant all sentient life below the TOC standards. Then there was the vilest species of all, the Dynrarri. The Dynrarri resembled huge brains with arms and legs, and shaped like frogs. They were especially evil, even more then the Antarans. They used their powerful brains to emit mind controlling waves, and could control lesser sentients with mere thought. They were using this power to convert other “children” races who were deemed worthy, and joined the TOC out of mind control. The Antarans and Lapis did not seem to be under this effect however for some reason.
The Atlantians and Orions tried to find a diplomatic solution to the problem, explaining to the TOC that they were creators too. The TOC would not be swayed, and claimed that their creations could destroy the Atlantians and Orions, claiming they were inferior races. The TOC then proclaimed that the Atlantians and Orions, as well as all their children, must be exterminated. Battle resumed immediately, and now the Atlantians and Orions were not just fighting a war, not this was for survival. The majority of the Atlantian and Orion fleet broke off, and once again head back to their own territory, while the remaining ships stayed to hold back the TOC armada. They knew this would be their last battle, but necessary for the continuation of their species.
The TOC armada followed the Atlantians and Orions, and systematically destroyed each of their colony worlds, beating the Atlantians and Orions back to Atlantia and Orion. Thankfully, while the fleet was defending the colonies, the scientists back on the home worlds were working on some new weapons. The Atlantians developed the Stellar Converter weapon. A beam weapon that harnessed the very power of the stars, and cold be used to destroy a planet with one mighty blast, let alone and ships that were on the receiving end of the beam. They were able to mount the weapon to a new ship named The Avatar, which was part of a new fighting force for the Atlantians and Orions. Meanwhile, the Orions developed a new soldier type race derived from Orion and Atlantian genetic code that could command these new fighting ships and save the Atlantians and Orions from extinction. The resulting race was dubbed the Vasari, and was commanded to help defend Atlantia and Orion. The Vasari was given all the knowledge that the Atlantians and Orions possessed, in order for them to make better use of the technology aboard the newly designed ships. The Atlantians and Orions quickly built up their brand new fleet of Vasari ships, and rallied them to the phase space in front of the invading TOC fleet.
The TOC arrived, with most of their combined fleet, and an epic battle quickly ensued. To the joy of the Atlantians and Orions, the Vasari was very successful in protecting their creators, and quickly destroyed more than half of the TOC fleet. Together with the Atlantian and Orion fleets, victory seemed close at hand, until the Vasari closed in on the lone Dynrarri vessel. To the surprise of the Atlantians and Orions, the Dynrarri were able to mind control the Vasari, and turned the race on their creators. The Dynrarri then wasted no time in ordering the Vasari to use the Stellar Converter on the Avatar against the closest planet, Orion. The Atlantians saw this, and quickly closed in on the Avatar. They quickly tried to destroy it, but they had built the ship too well. As the Avatar prepared to fire the Stellar Converter, the Atlantians in a desperate attempt to save Orion used their biggest ship Osiris as a battering ram, and crashed into the Avatar as it fired the Stellar Converter. The Osiris pushed the Avatar to miss hitting Orion completely, but a glancing hit still occurred anyway, and a huge shockwave of fire covered the planet, killing all the Orions on the planet.
The remaining Orion ships quickly realized they were all that was left of their race, and quickly headed to Atlantia. The Atlantians and Orions had no choice, they must quickly leave or perish before the TOC. The Atlantians have been working on a type of planetary jump drive for the Vasari fleet at the time, but it was still on Atlantia. The Atlantians and Orions decided to give it a shot, and hopefully would jump their entire planet away to a far away system. The remaining Atlantian and Orion fleet landed on Atlantia, and prepared for the jump, or their extinction. Annihilation seemed to be near, as the TOC arrived in orbit around Atlantia. The TOC built siege structures all around Atlantia, and were preparing to invade and colonize Atlantia as soon as the Atlantians were exterminated. Then, as the Atlantians finally activated the planetary jump drive, the TOC commanded the Avatar to fire the Stellar Converter at Atlantia. The convergence of phasing and stellar energy caused a reaction and the combined energy traveled along the telepathic link with the still burning Orion. Phase energy engulfed both planets, and in a great blinding flash, both Atlantia and Orion jumped away from the TOC to another system on the other side of the Ori Galaxy.
Shorty after arriving on the other side of the galaxy, the now combined Atlantians noticed something on their long range sensors. The TOC had tracked their jump point. They were coming, and will arrive within a month to finally end the Atlantians existence. The Atlantians quickly realized their only option, to quickly modify the planetary jump device to permit intergalactic travel, and hopefully take Orion again along for the ride which was still bonded to Atlantia by a stellar energy phase connection. Some of the Atlantian population felt that the intergalactic drive would not work again, and decided to take a small fleet of ships, along with supplies and a city ship colonizer to covertly find another world to settle, in order to guarantee the continuance of the Atlantian race. Together, a small band of Atlantians and Orions said goodbye to their rest of their people, and settled on a world on the edge of the galaxy, hopefully out of sight of the TOC.
The Atlantians on Atlantia wasted no time in converting the jump drive, and soon as possible, they activated it. Again, phase energy engulfed both Atlantia and Orion, and in a great flash the two planets jumped to another galaxy. However, something must have gone wrong. After the jump, the Atlantians realized they were missing something….Orion. Apparently, the link between the planets broke during the jump, and Orion ended up in what is known as the Milky Way Galaxy, which was dimensionally close to the Ori Galaxy. There also seemed to be a missing Orion ship that was guarding planet Orion and it was deducted that it jumped with Orion as well. The Atlantians hoped they will be able to continue on, and recolonize Orion and survive without the help of the Atlantians. The planetary intergalactic drive was broken now, driven far past its original design, and it would take months to make a new one with the current resources.
The Atlantians eventually started to rebuild their empire in their new galaxy, but could not venture from their galaxy due to a super massive black hole in the center of the galaxy. They were trapped there. However, this allowed them to rebuild in peace, as the same black hole also shielded their phase signatures from the TOC. The combined Atlantians decided to remain combined and once again through time became one race. Together they were stronger. Together they could better themselves and other races more. Together they could explore, expand, and evolve, in peace. However, they still met some races occasionally in this new galaxy that were not so peaceful, as well as others that once again became the Atlantians’ “children” which needed protecting. The Atlantians learned their lesson at the hands of the TOC, and would not allow that again. As such the Atlantians continued their quest for technological superiority, further advancing their fleets of starships and creating new defenses and weapons. This would last for 1 million years.
Meanwhile, the TOC not satisfied with letting a inferior race escape, sent the Vasari to the Milky Way Galaxy, utilizing their own intergalactic drive. They were to follow the phase signature of the planet that got way, Orion. They could not detect Atlantia, and thought that Orion was Atlantia. The entire Vasari fleet set off, and jumped to the Milky Way system. However, once there, the mind control link of the Dynrarri was broken, and the Vasari were freed of their mind control. However, permanent damage had been done, and the Vasari were hardcoded with the TOC’s ideals and beliefs. They were to enslave all races before them, as there were inferior. The Vasari conquered most of the core section of the Milky Way, and showed no signs of stopping.
10,000 years ago….
Deep in Vasari territory, within the core systems of the Milky Way Galaxy, the Vasari scientist were working on a new phase gate experiment. They were experimenting with drawing power from phase space itself, and instead opened a wormhole connecting the Milky Way with the Atlantian Galaxy and other galaxies. Eventually, the Atlantians noticed the new wormhole in their galaxy, and decided to send a ship through. Much to the captain of that ship’s surprise, he found the Vasari on the other side. The ship’s computers recognized the Atlantians’ old creation, and the betrayal 1 million years earlier. The scout ship automatically notified the Atlantian fleet on the other side, who told the scout to perform scans of the Vasari ships. The onboard computer scanned the Vasari vessels and structures as it started to be fired upon by them. It analyzed the data and found that the Vasari were now very far behind the Atlantians’ technology, although far superior than most races in the data banks. The Atlantians made the decision to correct a problem they had corrected, and would not allow the Vasari to use their weapons against other races like they did against their creators. The Atlantians decided to send a fleet through the wormhole, and quickly decimated the fleet and planets on the other side, exterminating every last Vasari save for the ones that escaped early into the battle. The Atlantians pursued the fleeing Vasari through the phase lanes, exterminating them as they went, and have been chasing them ever since.
NOW…..
The Vasari have now fled into Trader space, and now a new front has erupted in Trader space with the TEC, the Advent, and the Vasari, with the Atlantian fleet looming behind. The Atlantians detected the TEC and the Advent, and using gene sequencers have determined to be long descendants of the colony they left behind in the Ori Galaxy. The Atlantians do not want to attack the TEC or Advent, however they will also not let them stop the Atlantians from their goal. The Atlantians will not stop until every last Vasari is dead, and will decimate all who get in their way….
