[MOD] 7 DEADLY SINS : by DANMAN GAMES (DANMAN3712) ver 2.5 FINAL AVAILABLE to the PUBLIC!

The Ultimate Combo mod - featured in PC GAMER

http://www.danmangames.com

Welcome to the 7 DEADLY SINS mod, as featured in PC GAMER by DANMAN .

Welcome to 7 Deadly Sins 2.5 FINAL for the latest version of Sins Entrenchment 1.053.
7DS can only be played at HIGH maximum settings. DO NOT USE VERY HIGH settings. This will cause a minidump. Also, there is an issue with Win7 64 bit. You will get crashes, load errors, or the game will not even play, with or without warning. Just keep reloading the game and trying until you actually get into the game and play. This is a Windows problem, not a problem with Sins or 7DS.

7 Deadly Sins is:

The ultimate combo mod, the "unoffical" expansion of Sins of a Solar Empire, or so it has been dubbed by the mod community.
The work of many individual modders working together under my leadership (DANMAN3712).
Nearly 4 years old and downloaded in various forms over 100k times worldwide and in 5 languages.

Together, we form the 7DS Mod Team and the backbone of DANMAN GAMES www.danmangames.com

7 Deadly Sins is the combination of original 7DS Team content and other mods including:

Battlecruisers -very heavy armor, 2 to 3 weapon banks for anti-cruiser, destroyer and frigate duty
Capitalships -capital armor
Dreadnought -capital armor, incredible firepower and durability
Titan -capital armor like Dreadnoughts, possess doomsday weapons

New Area Affect Doomsday Weapons
TCA Beta Kol Graviton Doomsday
Imperial Executor SSD Shield Overload
Atlantian Avatar Stellar Converter (beam with damage to all in path)
Triad of Creation -Lapis Blackhole Generator and Spatial Compressor Wormhole Weapon

New Special Abilities
Rogue "Assault Pods", The Machine "Assimilation" for capturing capitalships, TCA armor plating unlocked by research for greater tanking, TOU "Oppression Aura" that reduces enemy firepower, Arilou Obliterator "Ion Cannon" disabling Starbases, Arilou "Mxyzptlk Array" with time disrupting "Quasi-Bomb", Triad of Creation "Nosferatu" and "Ghoul" energy siphons that do damage, and More!

New classes of strikecraft squadrons and Capitalships/Dreadnoughts/Titans with fixed number of Squadrons
Cruiser Squads of 3 strikecraft
Capital Squadrons of 6 strikecraft; largely used by Hangars
Titan Wings of 9 strikecraft; also used by Starbases

Mobile Starbases -all races possess starbases that can move about the gravity well to interdict enemy forces -assault carefully.

12 Playable Races with their own traits that make them more unique, from being a total offensive race, to a highly researching race. Each race now has its own unique tactics of gameplay.

Trader Emergency Coalition- solely based on trade and swarming, with little military might
Corpo-Nations that have rebelled against the Trade Order. Their military might stripped, they have turned to allying themselves with various factions and hiring mercs for protection.
TEC has new Battlecruisers, mercenary contracts, and EMP shells that bypass shields to a small degree.
Trade Coalition Armada- the military arm of the Trade Order
Once the development arm of the Trade Order, they are now the last hope for the Trade Order and humanity. Their ships are bricks with extreme range railguns.

TCA has state of the art weapons on traditional capitalships plus the Dresden and Athena Dreadnought and Beta Kol Titan.
The Orion Unity- modified Orion and Advent Combine
Some Orion split with the Atlantian-Orion Combine to guide the Advent towards their ultimate evolutionary stage. TOU ships are stronger, faster and deadlier; They can even travel between worlds using the Phase Stabilizer technology of the Tempest Titan.
Ship research boosts weapon performance.

DARK FLEET- modified Vasari
The Dark Fleet is all that remains of the Vasari. Where the weak Exodus ran often and fought rarely, the Dark Fleet seeks total dominion through force of arms. Their 5 Titan ships roam looking for prey.
Play style is familiar with greater armor, firepower and destructive potential.

Imperial Armada- from Star Wars
Guided by a clone of General Thrawn, the wasteland armadas of the Imperial Armada can employ powerful Force Alchemical Technology and even unleash the power of the Executor Super Star Destroyer.
Can unlock Jedi and/or Sith Holocrons for performance boost to defenses or offenses respectively -and at the expense of the other.

Rogue Cadre- Playable, custom pirates
Rob, pilfer, and steal your way to greatness. The Rogue Cadre is a melting pot of human cultures, Advent refugees and what remains of the Vasari. They have gathered against the TCA, TOU, Atlantian-Orion Combine and TOC to free humanity from tyranny, mysticism and slavery.
Posess the Precursor Titan and The Machine -the latter capable of capturing capitalships

Arilou Vanguard- UFO race from the Star Control Games
Not being of this dimension, the Arilou do not rely on money and normal means of transport or construction. They simply spawn ships from their "motherships", and travel through Quasispace, which propels them at near instant speeds from planet to planet.

Ur-quan KohrAh Third Doctrinal Fleet- Death race from the Star Control games
Totally aggressive, the Korh-Ah are built for battle. They are all offense, and barely any defense. They focus on exterminating every race and every planet they find, and almost every ship is capable of boming from orbit. Their goal is to "cleanse" the universe of all other sentient life, anything that is not an Ur-Quan.

Ur-Quan KzerZa Third Doctrinal Fleet- Slaving race from the Star Control games
Unlike their Kor-Ah cousins, the Kzer-Za believe in a diplomatic approach, let alone old habits of enslaving entire races into their Hierarchy. They have grown from their 10,000 year old ways, and are more good than bad now.

Atlantian-Orion Combine- the ultimate race, the seeders of life (the gods)
The Combine are part of the original Creator Alliance and responsible for seeding galaxies with genetic data. The Orion are the protectors and defenders until the Atlantian vessels can be fielded. Their greatest strength is their technology, but the loss of labs remove bonuses gained from research.

Taalo Horde- Ancient Rock race, from the Star Control games
As if the universe itself groaned for a protector, the Taalo have awakened from a million year slumber only to find old allies -the Atlantians and Arilou stripping the galaxy of semi-sentient flo-metal. They are the ultimate enviromental defender with a naive sense of justice. They have incorporated alien technology into their asteroid bodies with great results.

Triad of Creation- Ancient Destroyers of Worlds, Galactic Enslavers
The Triad of Creation, the Dnyarri, Antaran and Lapis, seek to eradicate all life in the universe. They nearly destroyed the Atlantian-Orion Combine in the Ori galaxy by turning their creation -the Vasari- against them. They emerged from within the Rogue Cadre taking a sizeable portion of their population into slavery. Their fleets struck the Taalo and Dark Fleet with vessels designed for infiltration nearly crippling the two factions.

well the thing about Sins is that it loads all the meshes and details upon start of a game. While this is ok for Vanilla Sins, 7 Deadly Sins has obviously a lot more stuff (and the ships are prettier) This all comes at a price though, because of the detail and the number of diffrent meshes takes RAM. 7DS will only work with a minimum of 2GB of Ram on top of the 2 GB needed to run sins so in reality its 4GB or 5GB for vista users. We suggest that players dont crank up the settings all the way because , ironically, the sheer amount of zipper splitting awsomeness is too much for the average computer. Unless you have Thomusin's Comp, we suggest not overclocking.

All of this coming from a guy who can play Crysis and Crysis Warhead on Max settings.

Yeah, I have also run Crysis on max settings too.  I built my own system.  Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0 Ghz, 4GB dual-channel RAM, ATI Radeon 4850, 7200RPM 640GB Western Digital Harddrive, dual blue cold-cathode lights, a massive 200mm fan on top and two blue led 80mm intake fans in front, 5.1 surround sound, and 21.6" widescreen LCD monitor.  All running Windows XP Pro SP2.  So you assumed I have an "average computer", huh?

I want to crank up all the settings to the max on 7DS.  I have already run Vanilla/Entrenchment SOASE on max settings, so why can't I with this mod?  Can I change a few files so I can run 7DS on very high settings?

Welcome to 7 Deadly Sins 2.1, for version 1.05 of Sins of a Solar Empire. It is NOT compatible with 1.12 or above.

7DS 2.5 will be available for the Entrenchment expansion for Sins of a Solar Empire.
End of quote

Excuse me if this is a silly question, im new to the modding forums but ive come up with nothing with the search function...

So is 7DS ver 2.5 out already or not? If not, is there an estimated release date?

No, it's not a silly question at all.

Unfortunately, the full version of 2.5 is not out yet.  I guess there's a ton more work to be done.  But the alpha test for ver 2.5 is available here:

http://www.danmangames.com/mods-sins.php

The 2.5 alpha is nowhere close to the 2.5 full version.  That's why I'm going to wait.  It was supposed to be released last November, that's all I know.  Perhaps you should ask Danman directly?

I'm still wondering if I can run 7DS on very high settings... :( If maybe I can change a file of some sort, since I know my machine can handle it.

No, you can't.  The problem is with RAM usage.  In XP, a program can use a maximum of 3 gigabytes of RAM, and in 64bit Vista it can use a maximum of 4 gigabytes of RAM.  When you first start 7DS on very high it uses over 3 gigabytes of RAM, and it will only go up as the game goes on.

You have a low end computer, i have a average computer... Two Xeon Quad core at 2.66 mhz, 16 gb quad serial channel interleace ( 32 gb/s ), Nvida 8800 Ultra 768 mb, 6x500 gb Samsung SATA 7200 RPM, SAS 400 gb 15000 RPM, blue ray, a bunch of huge fan, 7.1+2HD, HDTV screen... running win xp Pro x64, opensolaris, and Linux...

I want to crank up all the settings to the max on 7DS.  I have already run Vanilla/Entrenchment SOASE on max settings, so why can't I with this mod?  Can I change a few files so I can run 7DS on very high settings?

And i have play 7DS on very high setting... using linux... a self compiled version of wine, using opengl for store texture in graphic ram in place of main memory... using play on linux, i was able to start several version of sins in the same time... only problem is that the game crash once the memory use is a little over 11 gb...

Problem is not with sins ( specialy recent version with new memory optimisation and memory leak being corrected ), problem is not with 7DS... real problem is the OS who is very limited... Vista is worse... not have test it yet but some say that windows 7 is very promising...

In fact, i am wrong when i say that i have a average computer... my motherboard is a low end server board... a two year old system who score double that the last i7 extreme edition !!! What is show to be new on desktop motherboard is old story on server board... the 3 serial link to memory in the i7 is nothing new... server board use serial FB dimm and these exist from year...

Any desktop ATX computer is limited... you have the categorie desktop, workstation, server and mainframe... the last being the powerfull beast... low end workstation are like my system, desktop at the BTX format ( computer being more heavy that my girlfriend !!! )...

My point is that people comply about software, but they don't really that their heavy tuned desktop PC is only the high end of the low end computer... paying a big amount of money for a extreme edition when for the same price, you have a xeon who give better prestation is a crazy thing... of course workstation have no fancy neon or led for impress the ladies... only real power inside...

My computer looks modern, but all it's components are from 2002. 7DS usually crashes within 20 minutes from startup. It has an Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor, 2.21GHz and 1 GB of RAM.

Too bad the Entrenchment version (Alpha and Beta linked from his site) is on Filefront, which is currently experiencing...issues.

More RAM is your answer.

Isn't it always?
End of Bellerophon-1's quote

Not always... normaly ( with standart OS ), a dual core at 4 ghz is better that my two xeon  quad core at 2.66 ghz for sins...fast core mean fewer slowdown in huge battle or on huge multi star map with a lot of player... in sins, few task are multicore, main engine is single core...

Hardware virtualization can help but it is not a solution for usual game users and/or people without real computer knowledge...

As today, sins have the best 3D engine for a strategy space game... Maybe in the future , some Sins 2 will work with 64 bits and multicore support but it is not for tomorrow... core engine development take years...

how are you guys claiming your computer is old and not good?!  i have a laptop that only a celeron with 1.66GHz with 1GB of memory, and i run sins quite smoothly, only lag is in the first 2min of game.

all this about 2GB of RAM isn't strictly speaking true though, i ran 7DS 2.0 on my old shitty laptop which only has 1GB.  admitttedly all the settings were on low as they could go, and most of the special effects were off, and all non-essential background programs were stopped, but it can be done

With only 1GB ram, it is impossible to play ( sins + 7DS ) using a huge multistar map, with 10 player ( 9 AI + 1 human ) and pirate... start a game is one thing, but finish it is a other problem...

Below, some value 7DS 2.0 who was posted on our forum :

At the load, with gfx on low : 0.5 gb
At the load, with gfx on very high : 0.8981 gb

With huge multi star map, 9 AI + 1 human + 1 pirate, start value ( grow with time )

gfx on low : 1.0943 gb
gfx on medium : 1.2324 gb
gfx on high : 1.5051 gb
gfx on very high : 2.2962 gb

These value are memory used by the game and mod... don't count the OS, antivirus, firewall, autoupdate and any other programs running in the background... the "at the load", mean when mod is enable...

yeah but i usually only played with 1 or 2 AI. i enjoy sins for the huge fleets of ships you cobble together

Every time I try to load 7DS the game freezes.  Has anyone had this issue?

are ya using the right version of sins?

Im running the newest version 1.17? Or Entrenchment 1.03.  Whatever just came out.

Also, I tried to floor all the settings and it still froze up, it could be my sh!tty GeForce 9600M.  Worst. Videocard. Ever.

What is the checksum?  Mine says like -2084455387, or something like that.  I also get a runtime error.

that's your problem, this only runs on entrenchment 1.02, read the OP (alpha version only)

the full version runs on 1.05 vanilla

Actually, our Alpha B for Playtesters runs on Entrenchment 1.03.  We had released Alpha A just before the upgrades were released.  The current Release Version though does only run on Vanilla 1.05, Danman is looking to do a Vanilla 1.17 version when the current Entrenchment build is released.
