Need more than training manual

Just bought the game and I have tried the tutorials and have looked in the "Training Manual" but there is a lot of information that is not available. Where can I find info on even simple things like characteristics of asteroid belts and wormholes to name just two?

Well, you can click on the asteroid belt to see its abilities :P

And I believe wormholes work the same way (and if they don't, what happens is that if you have the appropriate technology, any units moved to their "center" pop out of the other end of the wormhole).

Yes there really needs to be a small set map that can be used with a written tutorial taking you through the basics of the game.

I think most game developers have forgotten what it is to be new to a game type.
Mind you try learning "Pacific Storm" from the supplied tutorial and manual. Makes this a piece of cake.

Or add a few replays of small systems with some narration on how it is done. This I think would be great for beginners.

Thank you Ron and Mark. I do know about clicking on things. The examples I gave were just that though. I did not want to list everything such as discoveries from exploration. When you find "kalanite" or "expert metal miners" what the heck are you supposed to do with them?
I could go on but Mark is right a narrated tutorial of a small system would be great.

What do you mean, what are you supposed to do with them? They give a bonus to, well, I don't quite remember the first but I think its trade, and metal production for the second one.

I "mean" do I have to do anything to exploit what I found? Maybe a trade centre for the first? Do the metal miners give more metal in one bulk load or over time? Advance my metal gathering technology? Is it just that planet? Are extractors affected?

Just saying you found "expert metal miners" does not necessarily tell one all one needs to know. My opponents may know how to exploit there findings and I would like to as well.
