Sketchup is not a game modeling tool.

Ok, but i made .XSI models with sketchup
the question is if there is a way to import them in game

I don't know to be honest, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was no way. Sketch Up is great for messing about with simple designs, but. Dont hold your breath.

I have had the same problem. I have a sneaking suspecition that sketchup pro exports to another version of xsi cause obj and 3ds work fine.

I'm hoping it does work.
I just tried playing around with the free version of sketchup, and it is MUCH easier to use than any other 3d program.
Maybe if the PRO version can export as an XSI file, then use SoftImage XSI mod tools to open it up, add all the stuff the game needs, save it, then convert to MESH.
It may just work.
If it does....LOOK OUT!

I'm using the pro version and i can export in .xsi format, i can also open the model made with Sketchup in XSI modtool ( i see my model with his colours and everything i made in Sketchup) but when i try to import in game with XSI converter he give me Radius -1.00 object.
XSI modtool is very hard to use and Sketchup very easy and every two creates .xsi models.
I know that Sketchup make very simple models, but those are the only type of model we can use ingame 'cause the game support only very simple models.
So
Why not to make a tutorial on using Sketchup to mod this game
The easiest way to have millions of new models to play

I have PRO version also, it is fantastic for getting models into other games but it has trouble with xsi. If we could find out why, it would speed mods up immensely

i think that one problem is that the texture files are in .jpg and not in .dds
so the question is if there is a way to use and save .dds textures in Sketchup

P.S.
@CanadaMan
Wich game you can mod with Sketchup and in wich way
answer me, if you want, in a private message, so we let free from OT this thread ;)

No, that's not correct at all. The game supports very high-poly models with all sorts of things like bump/speculars.

Ok,
I am going to try the sketchup thing too, but I may have more insight for you guys.
Sketchup pro only can save in XSI, that's true.
Now, I believe we have to load it into MOD TOOLS XSI, and then do the thing we would normally have to do to get it up to SINS standards (the developers wrote a HUGE tutorial on how to use XSI)
Then, we can save the textures as DDS files, which can them be editied in Photoshop.
(yes, another program)

Anyways, this is how I am going to do this. It may work, it may not. But I messed around with XSI a little bit, and it as well as the XSI converter and SINS itself, is very picky about what files get exported, in what format, and where.

Now to answer the question you are know thinking (what do I have to do to get the model up to SINS specs?) Here's what you do:
First, read that tutorial (found under the downloads section of this site)
Then, go into XSI with your model, and do what they tell you. But the basics are, you have to add the weapon points, and the engine points too.
If you don't do this, I am pretty sure that the model will not work.

Anyways, this is all an educated guess really based on what I have read and what I know. I do believe that if we work together, we can use sketchup, which seems very easy to learn. The only other thing I can say is, try it and see what happens!

The error you are getting is allmost certainly related to your .xsi files being the wrong format. So try to do what Danman said, load it into the free XSI mod tool and export it using dotXSI, version 3.6

The error is that ConvertXsi doesn't find valid textures
when i try to convert my .xsi files mde in Sketchup.
This happens because Sketchup seems it doesn't have a UV Mapping support
or a .dds support

And what about AC3D

What is AC3D?

Can't you just export the model and not the textures then?
